Yeah, right, tell that to the new goal that just took over all of my thoughts the last couple days, I'll be lucky to pull it off before I end up in a nursing home, which is ironic since it involves de-institutionalizing nursing homes. Ask me what my new life purpose is sometime when the forum isn't running so slow if you are curious.

Sorry, not going to try to like all the posts, it's taking like 20 seconds for each like to post.

I wanna know.

I heard someone on a podcast saying that instead of going to a nursing home, when her time comes, as long as she's ambulatory and can make it to the dining hall on her own, she wants to live on one of those cruise ships that go around the world over and over. She said the cost is no greater than a nursing home.

I plan to find a way to push for this to become the standard for dementia care in the US

That would be great if it became the standard.

There are small group home type senior care facilities. You have to hunt hard for them. There's one here I was looking into for my great auntie, but she died that year at age 85. It had six bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom. They gathered around a big table for their meals, home cooked on site. Each patient was allowed to have one pet. There was a big garden in back with lots of seating. They had a big TV room with a giant screen. It was owned and run by one family, all of them health care professionals.

Independent assisted care or full care, both options, but not hospice.

Will I know exactly at what point I'm no longer a middle age lady and now I'm an old lady?

My eyes are closing. I usually go out Friday nights, just to get out and keep from eating the refrigerator. Since I stayed in tonight I'm getting yawny, and I'm the one who wanted to have the valentine party, yeesh.

I'm taking a break for coffee and a podcast. When I come back, if anybody's still around I'll play.

How old was she when she sang this song?

At the Walmart up north, there was a woman in her upper 50s; the way she sounded was like a 6 yr old child. It was so strange coming out of an older woman. Probably, maybe, a medical condition, I don't know. She's not working there anymore and miss seeing her.

I first heard this song, "A Smile and a Ribbon" in the movie Ghost World, where it represented the angst of the movie's main character in a brief moment.

Anyway, Patience and Prudence were adolescents when they recorded it as the B-side to "Tonight you belong to me". Their dad was an orchestra leader.

In recent years there is a resurgence in collecting vinyl albums because of the better sound quality. I really don't agree with that. Albums are cumbersome to transport if you're a club DJ, sensitive to heat (warp), easily damaged on their surfaces, so a pop & crack in the sound of vinyl is no better than the slightly reduced sound quality of a durable compact disc. Nobody ever says "man that sound quality is horrible" when you're playing CD's in a nightclub.

Anyway, people are buying turntables again.
