No Rain- Blind Melon
I'm glad you're back and it wasn't a health issue. Yeah, that plumbing stuff. It's why I prefer to rent. I bought a condo, got squeamish about home ownership, so I fixed it up and sold it. I made about 200.00 in the "flip". Then I bought a house, got squeamish about home ownership, so I fixed it up, and the day it was to start being shown to potential buyers, I walked into the back porch, which was on the slab, enclosed with pretty wood and tall screened windows, but had a random faucet in the corner from before the previous owners enclosed it. It was leaking badly, water all over the floor, an expensive plumbing emergency. Home buying fever would always happen when I faced a rent increase, but I stopped with the home ownership adventures around 2007. Not worth the cost to my sanity.Thank you to everyone for their kind words and caring thoughts.
Here's what happened.
had a tough few day here, water heater went out, leaked all over the basement. The one that was in there was 30 years old, I put it in. So I got my use outta it . Bad thing was, well there are many bad things, it now costs 600 bucks for the same one I paid 159.00 for 30 years ago.
So went to shut the water off to it so I could clean up the mess and stop the flood and the damn shut off was frozen up w/rust and corrosion/lime. Had to work on that for an hour to get it freed up and the water leak stopped.
So after it stopped I cleaned up the mess and went to buy a new one. I think they fill them with lead now cause it was a real MFucker to handle and wrestle down the stairs, maybe it's I am weaker at the age of 70. Wifey wanted to help but she is still hurt from the wreck. That was all I could do in one day.
Next dat went down and started takin the old one out. Lots of fun there too but while doin that I seen a gas leak so had to change the way it was routed and pipe it another way ( I never did like the way it was anyway). So finally got the old heater out and the new in , gas line all installed, let it fill, and lite it. At this point I felt pretty good about it and thought I could kick back.
I could hear the water heatin so picked up my tools and headed up to take the screens outta the faucets so there wouldn't be a blockage and after doin that opened the kitchen faucet to relieve the air pressure and a burst of air cone through and then nothing. I went and tried the other faucets in the house and they were all fine.
Tired sore and baffeled I took the supply line to the kit. sink off and tried that and luckily water came right out so I tried firin up the compressor and tried blowin the clog out backwards, no luck so I had to take the faucet off and do surgery on it. Finally got it straightened out and the faucet back on and hooked up, that was at about 9:30 last night.
So this mornin I get up, can't hardly move and notice my LED for my Bonzai moms was out so have to get another one of those but for the time bein I haveta move all them into veg room.
WTF did I do to have this sh*t.
So the whole weekend was a nightmare, I am so sore I can't even hardly type. When I was younger that woulda been an easy job, I've done it many times here and for many others, but this one made me suffer.
Yes home ownership can be tough but when you figure your rent in years time units mine has been well worth it. At the time of a disasterous repair it seems the other way around though, at least at the time.I'm glad you're back and it wasn't a health issue. Yeah, that plumbing stuff. It's why I prefer to rent. And it isn't always just plumbing.
Contractor: You know that hole we said we could fix for 500.00? Well we found another hole underneath it. 5,000.00, and if you don't fix it the whole thing is gonna to come down, 18 months at most, maybe two years if you're lucky.

Give me just a little smilePetite Fleur (little flower)
A time honored song from Sidney Bechet (1897-1959), who lived the final years of his life in France. Louisiana people used to all speak French, so imagine performing in France and finding out you don't have to be treated like dirt just because you're black, and, you already speak the language.
Done here bilingually by Austin artist Julie Slim and her band Rendez Vous.
The other one I was using when I got ninja'd looked kinda mean. I was afraid people would think I was threatening them. I'm going back and switching it out on my previous posts.I love the little Ninja
