I really didn't mean to, but I'm always afraid if I turn down an invitation I'll stop hearing from friends, so I had a mega feast.

I posted about it in the cooking thread.
Haha...that happened with us. We were barbecuing and called up another couple to ask if they would like to join us. Well, they were getting ready to do the same thing and asked us to join them. We declined cuz ours was already going. That was the last time we talked with them.
This wasn't our choice to stop being friends.

Good afternoon Family
Sorry for bein MIA so much but since I got an early till I am takin advantage of it and gettin everything in that will survive a frost. So far potatoes, radishes, onions (my onions didn't do well I ordered seeds and they didn't come for over a month and then weren't fresh and had to get replacements that were to late),snap peas, broccoli (two kinds), brussel sprouts ( I used to hate these till Jean learned how to make them).
I hope everyone is well and havin a great day:)

May be an image of text that says 'It's just music they say. But, it's not just music. It's family. It's how people feel alive. It's their safe haven, where they go to escape the world, even for a little while. Music is so much more than people realize.'

I love the classic Cuban singers of the past era, those who didn't expatriate, who stayed there and became starvation skinny, but became world famous anyway, for their extraordinary talents. Tourists would go and see them in nightclubs in Cuba without even knowing who they are, but the wait staff would stop work to stand in awe as they performed.

You are always in my heart
-Omara Portuondo w/ Buena Vista Social Club

Some of them are gone now, but never forgotten. Compay Segundo, Rubén González, and Ibrahim Ferrer, all gone. Still performing are Eliades Ochoa, Manual Mirabal, Barbarito Torres, Jesus Ramos, and they play with young musicians now as well.

I've never really figured out what Oddara means. It's a Yoruba word lingering in Cuban orisha practice, which came to Cuba with the slaves from west Africa. I think it means "question", but I know siempre means "always", so:

Yo Siempre Oddara (I will always question)
-Jane Bunnet

She's a Canadian flautist. Canadians can freely come and go from Cuba, so she has formed many relationships with Cuban musicians. I love her work.
