Summertime Blues -- (cover) Rush

Hmm, getting a notion Ben also enjoys Rush? *grin*

Yesterday, located a full RUSH concert on Youtube. It was their band being 30 years old, bash. The set was a full three hours and change. Mammy cat took to it like a duck to water. She likes classic AC/DC, doesn't like Judas Priest because Rob screams too much, too loud.

Will apologize, despite my intention not being an act of affront to @Bliss Doubt. My intent was merely general slight venting, regarding witches generally. Have spent 20+ with a so-called witch, and it seems she's taken kin to turn everything upside down on me, negatively.

It's easy to blame the other when things go wrong in a relationship. It's a notion as old as the patriarchal era, "cherchez la femme", look for that witchy woman to blame for your woes. These old superstitions have long been used to justify the execution of women as witches. It has allowed colluding religious institutions and governments to steal from people, usually undefended women, their wells, their land, their animals and everything they have, torture them brutally, then exile, hang, drown or burn them alive, to get rid of them and get the goods. Neighbors were encouraged to rat on neighbors, to increase the range of capture. Women who, from time immemorial, delivered babies and treated peoples ailments with natural cures, were accused of putting the evil eye on animals and men, making them sick or impotent by witchy power.

Compare that with our current world in which people of particular political ideologies or religious faiths can be called "terrorists", have their bank accounts shut down, be de-platformed of their online voices, lose their jobs, rot in jail for years without trial over peaceful protests, by government in collusion with powerful mainstream media and tech giants.

Just keep in mind, MMM, those same instruments, the colluding religious institutions and governments, have targeted gay people too. Though there was no official stated intention to eliminate homosexuals in the inquisitions and witch hunts, gay men have been burned at the stake too. Even up to modern times, gays have been hated and reviled, have been beaten, lynched, tortured and killed. Even now, some fundamentalist sects will identify gay teens and either kick them out of the home to fend for themselves, or send them to a kind of reform school or re-education system, in which they are tortured with sleep deprivation, being made to remain standing for as long as 16 hours at a time, given very little food. Some of the more powerful churches, such as LDS, have only in recent years begun to roll back their anti-gay policies, but still do not allow gay people the right to have legitimate relationships or be given the priesthood. Other fundamentalist sects remain firm in their position that being gay is a choice, is a sin, is an offense to God.

I'm willing to bet just about anything that the witches you know would tell you they are not satanists, that what they practice is neo-paganism, commitment to this sacred plane we live in rather than some distant "pie in the sky". I went through a phase of exploring wicca and other forms of neo-paganism, but I found it required too much discipline. The whole world is my altar now. I believe in all of the religions but take doctrine from none of them.

I was doing halloween things in this music game thread. That's all.

When I'm having coffee I think of stuff. Do you need to whitelist [email protected] ?

If you ever accidentally marked one of the emails as spam, it might be getting filtered out.

Just an idea. Hope it works.
Thanks, Bliss. I did this and still nothing. Hoping they are still working on it and I'll start receiving emails again.

Looky what I got at the grocery store.

TX Frankengourd.jpg

It's called a Texas Frankengourd, but it doesn't look that monstrous to me, so I'll just call him Frank.

I would put him in the cooking thread, but Frank is going outside to the front steps with all the other pumpkin creatures left out there by people in my building. I wouldn't know what to do with him in the kitchen. He's too cute to cut.

I'll just bet that 7 year old will make short work of it.

She sure has a big time helpin do anything, she took placement tests and they want to put her in the 2nd grade, they said she was smart enough to go in the 3rd but they were afraid the other kids would pick on her cause she's so small.

I can't offer any good advice, or maybe I can. I went to summer school every summer in high school, just to get math out of the way without distractions. Back then I thought algebra and geometry were hard, but they didn't seem that hard in summer school. Class was only until noon, then everybody went to the swimming pool. It was only six weeks of the summer, leaving me some lazy days before fall semester, and time for out-of-town vacations with the famdamily, and It felt like a better option than sleeping 'til noon every day. One day I got called to the principal's office. I thought I was in trouble, but he told me because of the summer school classes I could graduate a year early. So I started first grade at 5, being a November child, which meant I finished high school and started college at 16. I think I was too immature for it. I partied too hard, studied too little, scraped by with the grades, no distinguishing achievements. I didn't flunk, but I didn't get scholarship offers for a masters degree or anything.

I do wonder how the little girl feels about advanced placement though.
