Wolfie, you're the only one who played on the question. I like your play list. So maybe makeout music is a girl thing after all. For me it goes all the way back to high school, then college, but I don't remember what my faves were back then, the songs that made me say "omygawd someone has to ask me to dance to this" (but it was always the ugly guy with bad breath who saw your excitement and said "may I have this dance?". Then with your date crush you listened to music in the car. I'm surprised about the guys not answering on this, since guys always seemed to know what music to play in the car, to get a kiss.

Nowadays I don't make out in the car. I invite the date inside, or get invited inside at his place. Makeout music for me is boleros, beautiful, soft, easy to dance to, and it's fun to dance at home in soft lighting, an open bottle of wine nearby, two glasses half empty.

So the last time I had a successful crush (there have been plenty of unsuccessful ones), the guy was very shy and unsure of himself. I could tell he liked me. He wouldn't advance, maybe afraid of rejection. So after going out with him a couple times times (with no kisses) I invited him to dinner. I put on my mp3 playlist of boleros from a previous unsuccessful crush. Once we started dancing, slow and close, he relaxed, nuzzled in, and we started kissing.

Here's my current list (could use updating).

Amor Eterno - Rocio Durcal
Bolero - Marta Gomez
Delirio - Bobby Sanabria
Eclipse - Sara Gonzalez
El Incendio - Ruben Rada
Enseñame tu - Eddie Palmieri w/ Tito Puente
Historia de Amor - Estrada Bros. feat. Aida Salazar
Je suis seule ce soir - Viktor Lazlo
Amor Perdido - Pete "Conde" Rodriguez
Pour toi ce bolero - Eric Bouvelle
Soleil - Richard Galliano
Son pa'gozar - Dayron Ortega Guzman
Si tu no estas - Azul Bohemia
Triunfamos - Azul Bohemia
Verdad Amarga - Estrada Bros.

The only other thing I love to talk about with a date crush is a song called "The Continental (you kiss while you are dancing). It really isn't danceable, most versions. It goes back to the 1930's. There is a latin version of it I like, but I can't remember the artist. Anyway, it makes for good conversation, because the title actually is "The Continental, you kiss while you are dancing". It always sparks interest.

Unless I'm getting ninja'd right now, it's a word match from the last play, for me to post this:

Kisses of fire
-Los Jaibos

One time my landlady's handyman was here working on something, and I had music going at my desk while I worked. A bolero piece came on, and he walked up and said "that's a bolero". I said "I know, and it was written by xxx and is on the CD xxx". He interrupted me, "I don't care. I LOVE it." He dropped to his knees and finished listening, then got up and went back to working.😹

That is bolero, the music of love. Ironically, Ravel's Bolero isn't even a bolero, but was intended to reflect the passionate impulses the bolero sparks.
