On this day in Music History – September 1, 1962
Tommy Roe scored his very first #1 hit when “Sheila” shot to the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
Originally cut in 1960 with his group The Satins, the song went unnoticed. But when Roe re-recorded it two years later, it lit up the charts and gave him the breakthrough that would lead to a string of Top 10 hits throughout the ’60s and early ’70s.
Roe’s style—often compared to Buddy Holly’s jangly rhythm and hiccuping vocals—helped define the transition from early rock ‘n’ roll into the sunshine pop era.
🎥
To celebrate, here’s Tommy Roe performing “Sheila” on The Midnight Special, February 15, 1974—still rocking it more than a decade after its chart-topping debut.

Hi, Jimi, I hope y'all are doing well today!
Not up to much here at the moment, got most of the daily things and some laundry taken care of this morning. There's a late afternoon baseball game so we'll most likely watch that. Other than that it's mostly relaxing.

Wishing everyone a good day 🥰

Haha, just saw Roseanne Barr taking a vape on a cig a like. First time listening to her and it was on the Ted Nugents Spirit Campfire

Huh, it wasn't more than a year or two ago I listened to her dissing vaping, saying it would give you an eye disorder. And she was still smoking.

I used to like Roseanne more than I do. She can still be funny sometimes.

I hope everybody has had a good 3-day weekend.

The pool party I attended today was kind of a bust due to intermittent rain. It almost always is. You'd think one year we'd remember that September is monsoon season in south Texas, even when we've had drought, and Labor Day ushers in September.

We had fun anyway. We played cards and enjoyed the food and drink and some music. I got to bring home some leftover pizza.
