I hope everybody is having as nice a Sunday evening as I am. Seems all I do is work. I worked a lot of the weekend, except for supper club last night. We agreed on a theme of Lent, even though it's over and Easter/Passover are over, because we wanted to remind ourselves we don't slow down enough to appreciate the times and seasons. Either it's work work work, or kids and grandkids chasing our time, and a basket full of store bought candy and plastic grass on Easter morning just doesn't seem right when you actually think about it.
The lady who hosted this time made crunchy fried fish sandwiches with remoulade and coleslaw. I took strawberry muffins and vanilla ice cream. Another brought cottage fries with onions (yum), and our fourth brought shrimp cocktail.
Lent is supposed to be a time of sacrifice, and it can be, to the extent we want it to be. Giving our best to each other is, IMO, the best way to put our own wants on a back burner and give ourselves.
