And you would be correct. When they were first made, they were around $1200 and up. Prices have dropped drastically since then, some can be had new for $300-$400.
They're beautiful, love them....

Moving to mech mods, hopefully you'll get some more traffic there...

Nice mod, but at that price I could buy a half-dozen other nice authentics, or about 50 quality clones.

We have a saying in real estate: the definition of "value" is the amount of money someone is willing to pay for something. If it sells, it's worth $700 - or at least it is to someone. To me, it's worth about $50 - based on my perception of value I likely won't own one soon.

That's not just a saying in real estate, I've heard it all over but never agreed with it. Just because someone is willing to pay a lot doesn't mean it's worth a lot. It's worth what it cost to make, plus a reasonable percentage for labor, plus a reasonable percentage for the finished product being worth more than the sum of the raw material (which is not always the case). Just because some idiot pays more than that doesn't make it worth it. Makes it a waste of hard earned money. Whether you worked hard to get that money or not, somebody worked hard to produce something that money paid for.

Some finished products are not worth the raw material required to produce them, depends on who made it. Some products are worth less than the raw material. And it's sad when you think what labor and raw material actually cost, which is next to nothing. Most products cost a fraction of a fraction of their retail value to actually produce.

If you do buy it I hope it is authentic and not a clone that slipped through pre lawsuit.

For $700 it better clean itself, build its own coils and do my laundry for that matter.

I would rather spend $150 on a well made mod and keep the rest of my money for juice.

If $700 doesn't mean much to you, then buy it. If $700 is a weeks pay or better, then forget it. It'd be a real b!+(# to pay that and not like it, especially when a clone is $30. Especially when it is somewhat long. There is plenty of proven authentic mods under $200....and even alot cheaper than that.

For practicality, I'd say you shouldn't spend more than 2 days pay...3 at most on a mod. To each, their own. Only once have i spent more than a days pay on a mod(raptor box), thrice a days pay (twice vw boxes, once a mech). It really is relative to what 700 bucks means to you. It is not 700 dollars worth of performance, more of an art piece. For performance get a vw mod, Snow wolf 200 or reauleaux maybe?

There's always that one guy on Ebay trying to sell his Skeleton Key for almost $3,400 and I laugh every time I see it. I have the clone with and without the logo and have held and compared the authentic with them. You couldnt tell them apart besides the serial and the real difference was the price, I will buy the clone repeatedly to piss off the modders that made it. They treated anyone that said anything about about the clone or bought the clone with complete disrespect and took it personally and I heard they tried suing multiple people for reviewing the clone on youtube, this is why modders have a bad name (along with other countless presidential assholes).
