Adventure Time is one of the greatest cartoons of all time. What began as a kids-only show on Cartoon Network quickly became a must-watch for kids of all ages that ran for 10 glorious seasons. The original series ended in 2018 with an incredible finale that IGN called a masterpiece.
You can currently watch every episode of Adventure Time on HBO Max or Hulu, but if you want to own the complete series yourself, the DVD box set is really your only option. Amazon has just dropped the price of the box set to $34.99 for Prime Day, which is the best deal we've ever seen. In other words, now is the perfect time to pick up all 22 discs for your physical media collection.
This Adventure Time DVD box remains the only complete series box set available in North America. There was a Blu-ray version released in Australia and New Zealand in 2020, but that version is unfortunately region-locked and difficult to find anywhere. If you want to buy a box set with every episode of Adventure Time included, you're going to have to go with the DVD format.
The Complete Series box set comes with a total of 22 discs and over 60 hours of content. That includes all 10 seasons and exclusive special features like a retrospective documentary with the cast and crew as well as a documentary on the music of Adventure Time.
Why buy the DVDs when you can stream episodes online?
If you already have access to Hulu or an HBO Max subscription, you may be wondering if it's worth picking up the DVDs at all. Streaming is definitely more convenient, but just because a streaming service has your favorite TV show right now doesn't mean it will always offer it with your subscription. HBO Max has been pretty consistently dropping classic Cartoon Network TV shows from its platform for years now. Adventure Time has remained on the platform, but there's no guarantee that all episodes of the original show will remain there. Since Warner Bros. acquired Cartoon Network there have been several spin-offs that arrived at HBO Max, including Adventure Time: Distant Lands and Fionna and Cake. These newer shows could potentially replace the need to support older episodes.
It seems unlikely that such a popular animated series would ever completely drop off of streaming. After all, even the Cartoon Networks shows that Warner Bros. dropped from its streaming service eventually landed on Tubi. But if you want to ensure you'll always be able to watch your favorite episodes with our without a subscription, physical media is absolutely the way to go.
