After Opinions...

First of all- check out my new toy... oooh so purdy.
So- few builds on it since I got it earlier in the week. Fused claptons, meh, round wire, parallel, meh. Got a set of my fav aliens coming early next week (
.13 ohm pair Ni80 - sooo good!).
Anyways, in the meantime I found a set of Geekvape Staggered Stapled Fused Claptons- they smash it out once they ramp up but the year it takes to get there is also meh (Single 18650- got. Couple of 20700s coming with the Aliens too...)

So- Was thinking of poppin coils out, lose half a leg each side, space them out a bit and parallel some round n80 in between to help with ramp up. But best I got on hand is 26g n80.
Worth it? Reckon it will help ramp up time? Plus being 26g maybe I should even consider twisting a pair or is it like adding more metal kinda defeating the purpose? Last pair of them I got too so don’t want to go clipping a leg etc if it won’t help.

Great looking coils and mod!

Cutting a wrap off and adding a second wire is going to drop your resistance too low to safely run on a single battery.
Also, adding more wire mass isn’t going to help ramp up time.

One 18650 will have trouble performing well with the exotic builds, the only coils I like in my tubes are regular round wire builds, something like 22 or 24ga SS, or 22ga Kanthal, both around 3mm-3.5mm I.D. and 6-8 wraps. Ni80 is also good.
Even 26ga nichrome or SS perform great but at around 5 wraps per side.

Parallel builds do fine as well, but I never found them to perform as well as the above mentioned build.

Yeah I went ahead and humoured myself - what more with my “great” idea of twisted 26g. In the multimeter tugging and pulling at it I couldn’t get it above .07 - calling it a night before I do something dumb like see what I can pulse it up to on a mech squonk (I have pulsed low builds on the Athena before only because I can keep the doors open for worse case scenario)

Anyways tomorrow’s a new day think I’ll drop it back to a single strand 26g in there just to see where it comes in at.

Cheers for your help mate I’ve run rounds and parallels on it and it’s just not doing it for me

Worse case I’ll put up with the ramp time until the aliens get here ️

Highly disagree, it all comes down to wire mass and material. 99.99$% all I use is SS Fused Claptons, usually 28g-30g for core wire and around 36g - 44g for wrapping wire. My basic go to is 29x2/38, very responsive even on single battery Mech's.

Again it's all about the wire mass and material

Wire mass, try SS 28g -30g core wire with around 38g - 40g wrapping wire.

Fused Claptons work great on mechs and single battery mods. I will say this, 26 is the way to go. 28 I can't get low enough with the wraps I like. Honestly 26 is hard too but doable.

I also use 24g 38g fused I don't use 9 wraps though. I use 5 @ 3mm or 6 at 2.5.

Can you post a pic of your single 26ga build?
It may just be a coil position issue.
