Nice misdirect, SHIELD! When they introduced Stephanie Malick recently, it seemed obvious she was going to end up in some sort of weird relationship with Hive and everything in this episode fed into that. She noted how handsome he was. He gave her a gift (albeit one meant to unsettle her father). And when Hive revealed the truth about Malick, with Stephanie present, it seemed clear Powers Boothe’s time on the show was about to end and the Bride of Hive story would begin…
…but nope, Hive straight up killed her! (Anyone else think for a second he was going to take over her body and discard Ward's?) Sending Malick the ultimate lesson and providing a nice swerve for the show in the process.
