Is Jersey Shore still a thing these days?
Lol if you mean the show then I don't think so. And the jersey Shore is nothing like it's portrayed on the show. Jersey Shore took place at seaside which when it comes to beaches in NJ it's probably the worst one to visit it's very small and mostly young crowd 18-30. But wild wood, Cape may, and several others are a lot nicer. I was born and raised in jersey and spent many summer vacations in wildwood cape may area. I've been to seaside maybe 4 times its where high school kids go after prom it's been a shit hole for years.

A massive New Jersey house party led to a stabbing, two hospitalized and one arrest, police said.

A Sayreville man was stabbed Saturday night at the house party with more than 500 people in attendance, according to nj.com.

The 24-year-old man was found outside with a stab wound, and was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune where he was listed in stable condition, according to nj.com.

Colts Neck Police arrived at the Freemont Lane house at about 10:50 p.m. after a noise complaint and found a 16-year-old girl who was drunk and unresponsive, according to the report.

But the good news is there was no flag burning s

Free N.J. Beach Access For Military? Not Everywhere, It Turns Out
If you're headed to the shore for the 4th of July, find out where access is free for military members and veterans.

2016_badges_belmar.jpg

When Gov. Chris Christie signed a bill into law in January allowing free beach access for active-duty military and veterans, it seemed like a nice perk.

Headlines touted the free beach access: "Christie signs bill granting military families free access to beaches" and "Easier NJ beach access for military."

The reality, however, is the perk isn't offered everywhere. The law allows towns discretion in whether or not to offer free access to veterans, to active duty military, or not at all.

Rachel Witt of Brick Township discovered that when she and her father -- both of whom are veterans -- tried to obtain free seasonal beach badges in Bay Head earlier this week, only to be turned away because they were not active military.

The law that Christie signed allows military personnel, veterans, their spouses and dependent children over the age of 12 to use their military identification, form DD-214 25 or similar document, or a state driver's license or identification card indicating that the holder is a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces for beach access instead of having to pay for a beach badge.

The law is at the discretion of individual municipalities, and applies to active members of the New Jersey National Guard who have completed initial active duty training as well as anyone 65 years of age or older or anyone who is disabled.

So the question is, which towns offer free beach access for active military and veterans?

Below is a breakdown, town by town, of which Atlantic Ocean beaches are free to active military, to veterans, and to both.

SANDY HOOK: The park is operated by the National Park Service. Active military members who own anAmerica the Beautiful Annual Pass will receive free beach parking at Gateway where parking fees are charged, including Jacob Riis Park and Sandy Hook. Active duty military photo identification will be required at all times to verify ownership of the annual pass.

SEA BRIGHT: Active military members and their family members receive free access.

MONMOUTH BEACH: No free access for adults.

LONG BRANCH: Active military and immediate family members are free with military ID; applies to the city's beach.

SEVEN PRESIDENTS OCEANFRONT PARK, Long Branch: Controlled by Monmouth County; active duty military members, their spouses and dependent family members and veterans are admitted free (including parking) with appropriate military ID.

DEAL: No free access.

ALLENHURST: People with disabilities are free.

LOCH ARBOUR: No free adult access.

ASBURY PARK: Active military personnel, their dependents, and disabled veterans admitted free with valid ID.

OCEAN GROVE: No free adult access.

BRADLEY BEACH: Active military, spouses and dependents free with military ID cards; veterans free with military ID or county- or Bradley Beach-issued veterans ID cards.

AVON-BY-THE-SEA: No free adult access.

BELMAR: Monmouth County volunteer first responders, active duty military and family are free with valid ID.

SPRING LAKE: Active duty military personnel are free with photo ID.

SEA GIRT: Active and reserve military and their immediate family members are free with valid military ID card.

MANASQUAN: Persons with disabilities receive half-price beach fees. Active military and immediate family free with valid military ID card.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH: Controlled primarily by Jenkinson's, with small pieces owned by Martell's; Risden's and a homeowners' association. Bradshaw's Beach, at Washington Avenue, operated by Aqua Serve, offers free access to active or veteran military members with ID.

BAY HEAD: Operated by the Bay Head Improvement Association; active duty military and family admitted free with valid ID.

Video Shows E-Cigarette Exploding In N.J. Woman's Purse At Mall
A video captured an e-cigarette exploding in a woman's purse at a New Jersey shopping mall this week; she thought it was a terrorist attack.

A woman was shopping in a New Jersey mall this week when her purse exploded, according to reports, and she had no idea why.

Mara McInerney even reportedly wondered if it was a terrorist attack.

Turned out, according to PIX11, that it was her e-cigarette device blowing up at the Freehold Raceway Mall in Monmouth County [see video below].

"I had the battery in this pocket by itself, it exploded through the pocket, charred and melted everything in the bag," the Old Bridge woman told CNN and other news outlets.

"What I heard first was the bang, and it being 9/11, it kind of sounded like a gunshot," McInerney was quoted as saying on WTOC.com. “The whole bag was engulfed in flames."

McInerney was checking out of a sunglasses store at the mall when a huge cloud of smoke erupted from her bag. She escaped injury, according to PIX11.

She told PIX 11 it could have been worse: She typically keeps her bag on the backseat next to her daughter.

She hopes that her story provides caution to those who vape, reports say. "Just knowing I have my bag in the backseat, daughter in the car seat next to it, it's scary and it could happen to everyone," McInerney said.

An Old Bridge woman claims her e-cigarette device battery exploded and caught fire — and the incident was captured on security video at the Freehold Raceway Mall

Mara McInerney told News 12 New Jersey that when she heard the bang as she stood at a counter in the Sunglass Hut store on the mall’s second floor, she thought it was part of an attack on the mall. The incident happened on the 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

“I had the battery in this pocket by itself and what it did was it exploded through the pocket,” McInerney says. “It charred every single thing, melted every single thing that I had in the bag.”

Seaside Park explosion: More shrapnel bombs found — feds investigate

SEASIDE PARK — Federal authorities have joined the investigation into the Saturday morning bombing on a residential street that was set to be used as a route for a military charity race.

Nobody was injured in the explosion, which was contained in a trash can on the curb of the intersection of D Street and Ocean Avenue.

Authorities quickly ruled out a prank or an accident, however, after they discovered two more undetonated shrapnel devices connected to the exploded device. The timing of the explosion and its failure to completely detonate prevented further property damage or injuries, officials said.

No other explosive devices were found elsewhere in the borough.

The explosion occurred about 9:30 a.m. just as hundreds of runners and spectators were queuing up for the 5K Semper Five run to support Marine and sailor veterans and families. The FBI and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives were on the scene with the State Police and local and county authorities.

Gov. Chris Christie was briefed on the incident and the New York City Police Counterterroism Bureau said it was “closely monitoring” developments.

“We are grateful that nobody was injured, but this is a serious act of violence against the people of New Jersey,” Attorney General Christopher Porrino said Saturday afternoon. “We will not rest until we find the person or persons responsible.”

Authorities said they do not have any suspects.

The borough was placed on lockdown, several blocks near the explosion were evacuated and the event was canceled. Other garbage cans were searched but nothing more was found, including in an unattended backpack found near the explosion.

Other Jersey Shore towns beefed up police presence as a result of the explosion.

Porrino urged anyone with information to call the State Police Homeland Security Tipline at 1-866-4SAFENJ.

STAFFORD — Police were called to a gym in the Manahawkin section of town to escort out a man who claims an employee was kicking him out for praying and discussing religion..

Capt. Herman Pharo of the Stafford Township Police Department said police were called to the Retro Fitness on Wednesday for a report of a man disturbing the peace, and not leaving the gym. The man, 66-year-old Craig Fasler, was found near the front desk of the gym and told officers he'd been having a conversation about religion with another man, and prayed for him because he was injured, Pharo said.

Fasler told New Jersey 101.5 he had only joined the gym a few months ago and had struck up a conversation with a man in the locker room on Wednesday. He said the man told him he had knee and back pain. After learning of the man's problems, Fasler said, he told him he was a minister and asked if he could pray for him.

"I said if you allow me to pray for you, Jesus will heal you right now," he said. "That's not out of cockiness or presumptuousness. That's where my faith is right now. I prayed for him and God healed him. He said 'man, that's unbelievable.'"

Fasler had first given his account to TapInto Stafford-LBI.

Fasler said that after he left the locker room, he saw a man who had witnessed him praying for the man talking to a gym employee. Then, he said, another employee he believed might have been an acting manager told him "you can't talk about religion here."

"'I'm an atheist,'" Fasler recounted her saying. "'You can't talk about religion.'"

Fasler said the woman also told him that he couldn't mention Jesus' name and that she would call the owner. He said the woman called the owner, who told her to call the police.

"I said 'Go ahead,' I didn't do anything wrong. I was just telling this girl what happened," Fasler said.

Pharo said officers responding to the gym did not witness the incident and, and said Fasler was on his way out as they arrived.

He said there were no charges pressed against Fasler, and that there was no further police involvement in the matter.

Pharo said officers described Fasler as "understanding," although "a little confused that management was asking him to leave."

"I said to the guy, 'I don't get it,' Fasler said. "This guy's in pain and now he's not in pain. I thought that would be a good thing. Then I end up getting the police called on me and escorted off the premises.

He said that while he understood the gym employees wanted him to leave, he didn't think he needed to because he didn't believe he'd done anything wrong.

"They wanted me to leave. i told them no, that I had a membership. She said that doesn't matter," he said. "It wasn't like I was standing on top of some gym equipment with a bullhorn preaching the word of the gospel."

Fasler said he doesn't know if he'll be going back. He said he missed a call from someone at the gym last night offering to talk.

"I thought, well, I really don't have anything to talk to him about," Fasler said.

A call to Retro Fitness' corporate office seeking comment has not yet been returned.

Hidy there NJ!

I am a lineman for the county
And I drive the main road
Searchin' in the sun for another overload
I hear you singin' in the wire,
I can hear you through the whine
And the Wichita lineman is still on the line
I know I need a small vacation
But it don't look like rain
And if it snows that stretch down south won't ever stand the strain
And I need you more than want you,
And I want you for all time
And the Wichita lineman is still on the line
And I need you more than want you,
And I want you for all time
And the Wichita lineman is still on the line
