one thing i always wonder about in every forum i've been in.....are private messages really private or are they accessible to those in charge? i know that nothing is confidential anymore, but one would like to think some things still are.

Usually, Mods dont have access to the PM's.. I do believe Admins/Owners do though.

admins have access to the logs and your PMs as text files
but typically don't bother with that.
Mods, depending on their level on the hierarchy do also in some forums.
I believe they have access to logs.
At ECF they can get into your private shit but typically only
the site censor algorithm does that.

what always got me at ecf was the fact that private messages were also censored. if i want to say "shit" in a pm, why does it have to be censored?
I got the guy across the street from us into vaping with one of our old mods, charger and a few coils. Hooked another one we did! And he's also a cook for Pizza Hut over this way.

you might find that even though we can say shit and worse on this forum and it's
private conversation feature with no problem from the censoring
mechanism or moderators, there are some words which DO GET CENSORED
in the PMs here. I've found in several conversations
that even though the context of the correspondence had nothing to do with illicit drugs,
my often hippie dippie vocabulary and poor choice of words
has indeed caused the site censor to bleep out my words.
