I watched half of the first season of the U.K. Version of the show before I knew about the US version. The first season is almost identical. However, reading the IMDb listings, it appears that the show goes in different directions after S1. I am surprised through, even though the show has gone through a lot of changes, it still hasn't seemed to jump the shark yet.Great Show
The Original UK show is suppose to be just as good, I think it's on Netflix / Hulu.

I won a Sprint telephone Fringe contest couple of years ago, spent 5 days in Quebec watching the filming and eating, hanging out with the Fringe crew....Great Show
