A few months ago, I quit pre-mixing my own juices, and I've taken to mixing the ingredients on the fly.
In my bag, I usually carry:
- One 30 ml bottle of plain VG
- One 10 ml bottle of 18 mg nicotine VG base
- 5 or 6 10 ml bottles of DIY concentrate, normally meant to be mixed 1 part in 5 to 1 part in 4 - either bought as-is, or pre-made by me from 2.5% flavorings.
Most of my RDAs are refilled with 10 drops of juice. So what I do when I sit down somewhere and I have time to drip properly, I pull my bag out and mix on the fly.
For instance, if I want a discreet flavor and no nic, I drip 1 drop of concentrate first then 9 drops of VG. Next refill, if I want more flavor, I'll stick 2 drops of concentrate and 8 drops of VG. Next refill, if I fill like some peppery nic added, I'll do 2 concentrate, 7 VG and 1 nic base. Or maybe 2 concentrate, 6 VG and 2 nic base. Or maybe 8 VG and 1 nic base for no flavoring and a little peppery taste. It just depends on my fancy of the moment.
If I'm walking or I'm in the car, I just do straight VG - which is what I usually vape anyway.
On-the-fly mixing has quite a few advantages:
- The variety is amazing: it feels like having 50 kinds of juices from a mere few bottles in a small bag.
- Unlike pre-made juices, it requires no steeping. I surmise that the heat from the atomizer when I press the button does the trick instantly.
- Some flavorings tend to go bad when they're pre-mixed and the juice becomes too old. When they're mixed on the fly, the flavor is always fresh.
- It requires very little extra effort. I mean, if I'm sitting at a bar table, I just leave the bottles open and drip this-and-that as I go. In fact, it keeps my hands occupied, which is cheaper than a fidget spinner
- I don't have to spend an entire afternoon every other week-end mixing juices and ultrasounding the bottles.
Am I the only one who does this?
