Bose needs no introduction; no one can dispute the fact that the Bose QuietComfort headphones have set the bar for noise cancellation and sound quality for years and years. Unfortunately, Bose headphones aren't exactly cheap, so the best time to pick one up is during one of the few times it goes on sale each year. As part of the Amazon Prime Early Access Sale, Amazon is offering the Bose QuietComfort 45 wireless noise cancelling headphones for only $229. That's a $100 price drop from its $329 MSRP and $20 less than what we saw on Amazon Prime Day back in July.
Note that this deal requires an Amazon Prime membership. Make sure you're logged into your Amazon Prime account. If you do not have Prime and you don't want to pay for an annual fee, then just pay for the 1-month membership for $14.99.
The Bose QuietComfort 45 is the newest model in the lineup after the QC35 II's nearly 5 year reign. This is the first of the QuietComfort headphones to finally get rid of the legacy Micro USB connector in favor of USB Type-C. The QC45 boasts up to 24 hours of battery life on a single charge and it also supports fast charging, which gives you 3 hours of juice after only 15 minutes of plugging into a fast charging adapter.
New to the QuietComfort 45 is its "Aware Mode". Unlike the traditional "Silent Mode" which activates noise cancellation and suppresses ambient noise, "Aware Mode" does the opposite. The microphone picks up ambient noises and amplifies them so that you can listen in on the outside world without having to take off your headphones.
The QuietComfort 45 also offers better noise cancellation compared to its predecessor. That's because the fit and material of the new earpads offer better passive noise isolation, which combined with the active noise cancellation, are more effective at blocking ambient sound than the QuietComfort 35.
If you haven't already invested in a pair of noise-cancelling headphones, you're missing out. Active noise cancelling is a miracle of science that works amazing well. The Bose QuietComfort 45 offers one of the best iterations of this this technology, and it is very well worth the money spent. If you're looking to buy a noise cancelling headphone right now, and you're budget conscious, there's no better option than this.
The QC45's closest competition is the Sony WH-1000XM5. Many people, including our own Kevin Lee, believe that the WH-1000XM5 edges out the QC45. The XM5 is also on sale right now, but it still costs $348. That's $120 more than the QC45. Is it worth the premium? That's up to you to decide.
