So this one is a little more of a concern. The fire button on my Cv Vertus is getting hot After a single hit. I'm not sure if is because it's an odd button. I was hoping someone had insight on it!
I appreciate any help!

How do I find a short? I feel silly asking. I'm just really s
Frustrated

The atty resistance is shorting out, the pin is not making connection causing a short, the battery contacting not making contact causing a shot.

So steps to take is do a strip down from button to drip tip clean all connections and rebuild from there.. if still joule heating your battery could be going fucky.

What battery in the mod and what atty resistance.

So a deep cleaning and rebuilding? Because I moved my atty to a different mod and it was firing just fine

Deep clean and inspect the mod then looking for scorch marks and funky things.

If it is not going in the atty, but mech only rubbing alcohol works well.
Clean the threads and switch, if there is something off you should notice it.
Nope, all cleaned and broken down. Still getting warm. It's just the button that's been heating up. The battery contact is still cool to the touch.

I feel really silly...I double checked my atty and I had a contact screw a quarter turn too loose and the heating of the button has virtually stopped. It's still getting like warm. But not hot

So, I returned to my local shop and the owner didn't even know what was going on, he refunded me and was more than happy to give me a deal on a new mod, I wish i could have fixed the problem because IMO, it is the sexiest mod I've seen in a long time

it could be a spring problem like @BoomStick said... and i think he touched on this in his rundown but I am going to mention it as well...espeically if you have a warped spring or a negative contact that unscrews it's self like my stingray X and caravella clones do. When a contact loosens it's self it can cause conductivity problems because your negative contact won't make a constant flush contact with the negative terminal of your battery causing the current to "bottleneck" to one side of the contact to the other causing the contact and the button to heat up from the pinched flow of current leaning towards one side of the contact or the other...on a cheaply made clone this can happen even if the contact is tightened down...or the contact isn't making a solid connection with the battery even when it's fully tightened because the contact isn't long enough to make solid contact. I had to replace my switch on my Stingray X clone because it wouldn't reach fully tightened down and constantly gave me problems and I had to put an o-ring in my caravella clone to help hold the contact in place and make it more difficult to unscrew. It was a wonky fix but I liked it because it gave my button a much shorter throw but I would be careful jurry-rigging a switch like this because if you don't use a non-conductive o-ring or the wrong size it can cause more problems than help. Sorry you had to switch out your mod....hope you have better luck and happier vaping in the future :)
