Anyone build model cars?

Finally found a good pic of my Super Class rig! This is with my 2.2 Pro. to give you perspective, the small one is 12.5" wheelbase, the big one is 18" wb with 8" tall tires.

Those are sweet rigs.....but I just don't like the moon rover look,doesn't look like a truck,not to take away from your enthusiasm. Now with that being said if they come up missing ....I most definitely did not take them nope not me lmfao

I am also lookin at the redcats rockslide it is $100 cheaper and comes with everything I need right out of the box....browsed around a little and have found a ton of replacement parts and upgrades fairly cheap to ....I think it would be a better starting point.what do you guys think?

I've heard good things about the redcats. I haven't messed with one personally, but I know a lot of the guys on scale4x4 love them for parts. From what I understand, the electronics aren't the best, but they will work until you can upgrade them.

Been reading the same on the electronics. But they aren't to expensive to upgrade

Unless you want them to be. I have a $170 steering servo. It's strong and waterproof. Maybe too strong...

I had been out of rc for years when I found these trucks and had to have one. I found the scale4x4 site after I spent too much money. I would have done it a little differently now...

Have you looked at the Vattera Ascender? It's a straight axle K5 blazer. There is also the Gmade Sawback, a Jeep that is getting good reviews. Check out rpphobby if you haven't yet, sometimes tower has better prices though...

I think they do. I don't use tapatalk though, so I'm not sure. If you register over there, I use the same name.

When you find the builds by pardonmynoob, take a look at the work he does, then think about the fact that he is 15... He does some crazy stuff.

That is why I have scale rigs too! The comp crawlers are about pure performance.

Here is a video I made during the chassis prototyping phase. Scale trucks can only dream about lines like this, but there is something to be said for real looks too. That is why I do both. One competitively and the other to blow off the stresses of competition

Nice. I've got another tf2 chassis that I plan on doing a squarebody c10 on. Still figuring out all the parts, axles trans and all, but I'll have a while before I get to it.

True. I hear a lot of good things about the redcats. I may have to check into their stuff more for my next build. For this one I wanted scale metal axles and all, but I need to build one I can play with while I'm building this one.

Yea, but if you are into crawling, they will last a while. And the li-po stuff blows the old batteries out of the water. Just be careful with them.

I thought redcat made one that had a single motor and trans too? I know they make the moa monster trucks and crawlers, but I thought they had something similar to the Axial as well?

Ill have to look into the single motor......I thought the "rockslide" was the only crawler they made .they have another one that us sort of a crawler but with WAY less axel twist. I found the rockslide on amazon for $169.I think it's a good price but I'm not in the know

There is a comp crawler, but I could have sworn there was a more scale truck type as well. It wouldn't be as good of a full out crawler, but would be a better start for a scale type rig. Something that would fit into class 1 or 2.

With some tuning, it is easy to make look more scale, and it's got parts that are good for scale builds.

For the scale crawling, class 1 is basically a scale truck with a mild lift and bigger tires. Class 2 allows more mods. Class 3 is full on comp buggies. I'm building my truck for class 1, but don't know if I will compete with it.

I can understand that. It's what I would need to use with my tf2 chassis though. Still cheaper than building it out with rc4wd parts and easier than dealing with their crap customer service.

Rc4wd has some serious issues, but there are a few things that no one else makes... Recently there have been more and more clones running around, but not everything. As for redcat, I have no idea about their cs, I havent yet dealt with them.

You can always buy rc4wd parts through vendors and deal with their (far better) customer service. Same prices as going direct. Rc4wd claims to be too caught up with designing and building stuff to deal with customers and directed me to RPP. And of course they are the only one making the wheels I want.
