This week Oliver Queen finally learned the lesson that there’s just no refusing Ra’s al Ghul. He refused the Demon’s offer week after week, enduring having his identity leaked and his city turned against him, only for Thea to finally become his Achilles heel. Our hero reached what was perhaps his lowest point in a season full of lows, and naturally that made for a memorably dramatic episode.

From the opening moments, this was really Stephen Amell’s week to shine. Amell did a great job of conveying Ollie’s raw emotion and anguish at seeing his last surviving family member bleeding out on an operating table. That scene, without much in the way of dialogue from Ollie, was a gripping way to kick things off. It certainly justified the notion that Ollie would give in and embrace his “destiny.”
