Hi Vaping Underground members, In this review i take a look at the Zelos 50W TC Kit with Nautilus 2 2500mAh from Aspire. The Aspire Zelos 50W TC Kit was supplied for the purpose of this review by Ella from Sourcemore.
Zelos 50W Kit
Introduction
Aspire along with Innokin and at one time Kangertech have probably been responsible for more people making the switch from smoking to vaping than any other manufacturers and being real pioneers in the vaping world. Aspire are as relevant today as they still rock out excellent vaping products but here we look at a kit which has been out for a while. Very recently Aspire released the Zelos 2.0 Kit which includes the new Nautilus 2S tank and to be honest that was the kit i was meant to be reviewing but the older version was sent. I am still going to review it as the mod holds up still as a device that suits many low wattage vapers, so much so the new kit includes the Zelos 50W mod without any modifications just a very slight change in the colour options. Here the original kit see's the Zelos paired with the very popular Nautilus 2, the 1.8ohm coil still viewed by many as the MTL coil they judge all others by!

Aesthetics and Ergonomics
The Kit came in simple Black cardboard packaging with an outline drawing of the device and installed tank on the front of the box. I received the Grey version, it's also available in Red and Black, with all three versions the colour match-up between mod and tank is exact and if buying separately the Zelos also comes in Blue and the Nautilus 2 comes in 5 colours. The Zelos is an ergonomic shape, small and curved where it needs to be to feel very comfortable in the hand. Looking down from above is where you really notice the ergonomics as it's pill shaped but less elongated than the pico which has the same pill shaped form. At the top to the front on the sides the device has a Silver section that sweeps around to cover the top section of the front of the device. This section protrudes out slightly and houses the curved fire button which is the colour of the device, also on one of the sides of this section we have "aspire" and "Zelos" printed but the whole device just has a timeless class look to it so even those that don't like any printed branding won't have issues with this. The top of the front of the device i have already described, we then have a pill shaped screen central followed by round navigation buttons (again in the colour of choice) and finally at the bottom is the micro USB port. The base of the device has printed safety marks and a ring of venting holes, up top to one side is an air fed 510 plate with Gold plated, spring loaded 510. The device is made of anodised aluminium and the build quality and finish is what you would expect from Aspire, top notch!

Nautilus 2 Overview
In my opinion the Nautilus 2 is a gorgeous looking tank with a seamless domed design that flows into the MTL Silver nipple drip tip (a delrin drip tip is included). The base section is quite a large section as it includes threading for the domed protective cover to secure and large 0-ring which takes up a lot of surface area so the glass stays securely in place when filling. The glass takes a bit of effort to remove to screw in or out a coil from the base which is a good thing as when you unscrew the cover you fill into the glass so it needs to stay in place. I have never had any issues with the glass coming off while filling and i used the tank quite a bit when it was first released but the only problem i can see happening is if while filling you accidentally knock the tank over, however quick you get it upright you will lose all the liquid and it will be a messy affair. Once the tank is filled then place the domed cover over the glass and screw onto the base at the same time the top of the coil screws to the chimney, there is a large round viewing window both sides to see your juice level. When turning the airflow control ring which moves with just the right amount of tolerance the airflow holes are revealed. There is a series of 5 holes increasing in size and you can have as many open as you like, the Nautilus 2 covers all MTL bases from super tight to very airy. The two supplied coils are the classic 1.8 coil and a 0.7 coil but others are available. A new coil was introduced with the Triton Mini and a 0.4 coil has been released with the new Nautilus 2S both of which are compatible.

The Display
The Zelos has a very old school pill shaped screen which is small but bright and plenty big enough as only the most important information is displayed. To the left we have the battery status bar, this is followed by top the resistance and bottom the voltage which displays watts when not in variable wattage mode. The entire right side of the display is taken up by displaying either wattage, temperature or voltage depending in which mode you are in.

Navigating The Zelos
The Zelos is a very simple device to use yet does come with all the features a new vaper needs to not only start vaping but also if they wish to start experimenting trying temp control and use adjusting voltage rather than wattage. The device is the usual 5 clicks to turn on and 5 clicks to turn off which like most devices doesn't fully turn the device off but sends it into standby. With the Zelos it lets you know it's in standby by giving the message "locked" when you press the fire button. If you hold down the fire button for 3 seconds while the device is in standby then the device completely powers down, surprisingly very few devices do this. Once on there are 2 ways of locking the navigational buttons to avoid changing settings by mistake, the first is fire and the + button together which locks the device, the second is three clicks of the fire button which turns the screen off (stealth mode) and doesn't allow alterations. It doesn't make any difference which of the 2 methods you use the device will still fire. Holding the - and + buttons together allows you to go through the modes, when you are on the mode you want click the fire button to select. The modes are, Variable Wattage, Variable Voltage, Bypass, Temp SS, Temp Ti, Temp Ni and back to Wattage. When choosing one of the temperature control wires it will ask you if it's a new or old coil then lock the resistance in, also when on the main screen using temp control pressing - and fire together allows you to set wattage for temp control up to 50w. That's it! very simple with the only other feature left to mention is the display has auto flip so whichever way you hold the device the display will flip to be the correct way up.
