I am not usually much of an RDA user, I hate dripping and I generally only use them to taste my DIY mixes while I experiment, however, I do own a handful of RDA's for that reason. I recently got the new Aim-9 RDA from ASVAPE and I have been playing with it so I thought I would share a few thoughts.
Specs- 23.8mm diameter, 2 post velocity style build deck, bottom airflow similar to Kennedy with "baffles" on top of the airflow to quiet the draw and prevent dripping down the airflow holes, the deck is gold colored (plated I assume), airflow slot is 1.5 mm tall.
Packaging- Very nice box and look. The instructions suck- they're in Chinglish, the supplied coils suck- regular 26 gauge kanthal, spaced. The supplied allen wrench is just a plain "L" shaped wrench.
Pro's- (purely opinion) A very nice "taster's" RDA. Airflow is constricted, not wide open like some. The quality of machining is good. The drip tip tapers to a smaller opening which seems to make for a smooth draw with no spitback. Built with 26/32 claptons (6wrap 2.8mm ID) the flavor is great and performs well at 75 watts. Does not get hot. Etched logo is subtle and the all black look is stealth and attractive.
Con's- (also opinion) There's no good way to drip without pulling the top cap off. The drip tip fits too snug to pull out to drip. Also, it's a bottom aiflow RDA so theres always the risk of clumsily dripping into an airflow hole and leaking. The top cap is flanged down where the drip tip plugs in, so tall builds may not work.
This has quickly moved to my favorite bottom airflow, velocity style post RDA spot- over the Tsunami and UD Anzu. The airflow is smoother and more restricted, it looks better, build quality and fitment of parts is better, and I have yet to drip down an aiflow hole which I did constantly with the other two. I'm not going to give up my RDTA's or RTA's in lieu of this RDA, but it's a good one.
