Hello all fellow vapers...
I have an IVP3 and the Atlantis tank on it and currently vape 80VG / 20 PG juice. I have read all over the place that these Tanks have coils at .5 ohms and most people are vaping these around 30+ Watts. One the first day I put this tank on my mod, it read 6 ohms. I did the upgrade to the mod so now it shows 2 decimal places and the resistance is anywhere between .59 to .62 ohms. Even with a new coil installed it reads the same. I have found that although I am a heavy vapor, I go through these coils almost one every three days. Seems a bit excessive to me. My flavor has been somewhat muted, so I turned the airflow down to the one less than full open. This helped a bit but the vape is still pretty cool. If I try to bring this up to 28 watts or so, the coil cooks in almost no time and the taste, well lets just say we all know what that burnt taste is. My question, is that if the mod thinks I have a coil in at .59 or so, and at 23.7 watts, i am getting 3.73 volts give or take a tenth of a volt, I believe it is working correct? Does this seem correct? My figures tell me that a .5 ohm coil at 30 watts should drive around 3.87 volts. That is still more than I am driving but yet, going through coils pretty quick and the flavor production is low. Thanks for anything you have to offer

The ohms value a coil is marked for is always approximate... they are seldom exact and will have a certain percentage of tolerance. Most of the ones I see are slightly over but on occasion you'll get one that is a little lower resistance.

Always set the output to what tastes best for you on a particular juice... different juices will react differently to the power that is sent to them. Some juices will get stronger flavored with certain flavor notes as you increase power and some others will have less flavor.

Different e-juices will also gunk a coil differently... naturally extracted tobacco's ( as apposed to the typical synthetic tobacco's most places sell ) is probably one of the quickest to gunk a coil, high sugar content juices are probably the next quickest to gunk a coil. Other particulates can also play a role in this.

That does make a lot of sense the way you put it. I believe the IVP3 is functioning normally. It may be reading a bit high but the calculations are correct. I took the same Atlantis tank and on the IVP3 it read .59 and on my IVP mini it read .4. In either case, the mod appears ok. Since I do enjoy some of the more sweeter juices such as custards, fruits etc.. that may be why the coils are junking up quicker that I had expected. I will try some basic bland juices to see it the longevity increases. I have my DIY e-juices on its way so I will also keep that in mind when selecting different recipes to mix up.
Thanks again rdsok.

Your pin on your base is pushed in and not getting a good connection. Just take off the coil and with a pen push out the bottom pin on the airflow out a little bit so it gets a good connection with the 510 pin on the mod. It won't bring it down a lot but it will bring it down about to a .1 to .2 ohm reading less than it was. Some coils .5 Atlantis coils aren't exactly .50 or .51 ohms. I just put a brand new Atlantis .5 ohm coil in mine and it's actually reading .58. It seems like it's still working properly but because these things are not handmade and made in quantities from the factory, I'm sure there's a few higher in ohm readings. Hope this helps. Keep on vaping. Peace✌

You can put the juice in the tank and let the new coil sit there for at least 30 seconds. You can also put a few drops on the cotton around the holes of the coil. Once you've let the juice sit, without powering the device, suck in on your drip tip a few times. This will assure the juice gets absorbed in the new coil. After that then you can use it normally.
