Looking around for a single 18650 battery case, the only thing I seemed to see was the rubbery silicone stretch on type. Those are probably good, but I kept looking not finding anything until I ran across an old reddit post where someone said that a dime coin tube was the right size.

Some other folks tried them and said that they're too small, I figured I'd check it out and see for myself. BCW lists the size of theirs at 17.9 by 65.9 mm, and with 18650 batteries being 18mm or so and larger, you can probably see where this is going.

So, yes, they are too small. The tube gets smaller near the bottom, on a Sony VTC4 or LG HB6 it's just the last quarter of an inch or so, but on a Samsung 25R it's much farther up. You might be able to push some batteries in all the way, but I think they'd probably get stuck.

So, I sanded a bit until the LG and Sony would fit. It could be done a bit nicer, I was just seeing if it would work. The Samsung is so much bigger that I don't think it would work in these tubes, at least not without a lot of sanding. Maybe a different brand of dime tube would work better?

So, what battery cases do you use?

When I buy batteries, they come in a case that holds two. They are just the common ones for 18650's.

I also own an "efest" branded zip case that holds two batteries. I use it every day.

The single cases actually cost more than the dual, so that's why we and many other vendors only carry dual. For 26650s it's not that way so we have singles, but not 18650s.

As for what I keep batteries in, I need a lot, so I use original Samsung boxes lol

For carrying a spare pair, I just use the dual battery or quad battery plastic cases.
At home, I use a 12 Gauge shotgun shell case.

No clue about single battery cases though.
If a dime tube wont work for a single battery, why not just move up a size?
Go with a tube that holds Nickles instead.

Been using the shotgun shell cases since day 1.
I had one choke tube case that fit an 18650. Don't know what brand it was. Gave it away to a guy that needed it.
Ebay has choke tube wallets that will hold more batteries nicely, some have tubes.
Check your local store for fit (length varies).
For me, one extra cell is not enough. Like extra ammo.

But Zaroba had it right.
I checked some coin tubes, and the penny one fits nice.
just add some padding, and find a screw top one.
