Everyone's favorite power-hungry app Pokemon Go helped sales of auxiliary battery packs skyrocket.
According to The NPD Group, sales of battery packs "designed to charge mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets" grew by 101 percent in the period between July 10 and July 23.
NPD credits this huge sales boost to "the extraordinary popularity" of Pokemon Go.
"In the six weeks leading up to Pokemon Go’s launch," battery pack sales were only up four percent over the previous year. In the two weeks following the launch of Pokemon Go, "sales of portable power packs reached nearly 1.2 million units," NPD said.
