Been Banned for a week... what did I miss?

Just got back... post count gone. Guess this is how Exodus felt last Fall. :mad:

"You have been Banned. Reason: SPAM"
O Rly? Screw you too, forum software.

I'm thinking it was CloudFlare, I had one of those rare but annoying "Post Blocked" messages not long before the ban. Whiskey confirmed my thought that I got caught up in a Spam cleansing.

Even better... the message on the sole accessible forum page said "If you feel this action was in error, please contact the Forum Administrator."

Guess what? There's no contact info available. :mad::mad::mad:

And what I guess was IP Matching prevented me from creating a new account to communicate with the staff.

I'm thinking my spleen is gonna take a while to fully vent. Not even close yet.

I can't blame you for being upset. I know I would be. Nothing I can say will help you feel any better, but I will see what can be done about fully restoring your account. A member, @NGAHaze PM'd me when he noticed your posts disappeared and I immediately notified Admin.

I can only apologize and will make sure they're aware that you're not fully restored.

I've been having to badger Mooch all week over on ECF to pass my email to you and Whiskey... he thought the ban must have been deserved. :rolleyes:

Not sure yet how I feel about that. :(

No dude!! Not at all deserved, or intentional. It happened with exodus when he got banned. Caught up in a spam and I have no idea why or how, but as soon as I got the PM from Haze, I asked the other mods and they were all as surprised as I was. At that time, I notified Admin and Tyger jumped right on it.

I've already notified her that you're not fully restored, but at this moment, she's hosting Mod Envy. She always replies.

Do a banned member's posts really disappear?
Banning's so rare, I never noticed.

I know this is gonna sound dumb but what is spam on a forum? I get spam in my inbox sometimes as its usually somebody trying to sell me something..but what is considered spam on this forum?? Thx

Oh man, this is incredibly, ludicrously, far far worse than I had thought.
I thought it was just my post count being zeroed... a bit of forum vanity gone.

But all of my posts?
My spleen just caught a break because I've moved to some place far on the other side of anger.

No, Mooch also sent a PM, including Whiskey and me. I had already notified Tyger at that point, though. It's gonna be at least a day for her to get up to speed on the situation, that you lost all your info. She's on Mod Envy for at least the next SEVERAL hours. It's their anniversary show, and it'll be running into the wee hours of the morning.

Jim, I'd be pretty upset, too, just try to hang onto the fact that it's being worked on. If I had all the magic buttons to press to correct everything, it would've already been taken care of while we were chatting here. She's got her hands full right now. Exodus got fully restored. I can only apologize. I know it's frustrating. And I know those are only words right now.

As I said... if it gets restored, no reasonable amount of time will matter.
I'm expecting a day or three, maybe more, she'll get to it.

It's the feeling that it'll fail that has me worried.

Glad to know Mooch did finally reach out though, that helps.

Now... which piece of forum software do I get to mentally throttle? :mad:

I might as well add to this, as it probably explains how I got the ban.

You've seen the late night, new member one off posts, usually for ED pills or some other crap?
Some of us like to reply and then the next day... the entire thread is gone and the SPAM account erased.

There was a particularly poorly worded one for some BS Mental Acuity pill.
They're always bad English, but this one was just horrid.

So I replied... "Gov. Palin, is that you?"

Oops.

I've replied to quite a few of those spam threads as well. With quotes.

Wow man, 9 posts. But look on the bright side... now you can go on PIF and fit the classic M.O. of a new member trying to get free crap with an epic tale of woe.

Jim - super bummed about what happened, all of us are. Trust Huck, we want to do whatever we can to get your account all the way back - the forum as a whole loses a lot of value if we lose your past contributions, which have been largely on-point from what I remember. Stay tuned, and regardless of how this ends up we're glad to have you back...

I still blame CloudFlare, but that's really just on general principles, It's what's responsible for the rare but annoying "Blocked" message when it flags some otherwise innocuous word in your reply.

In this case, I think, a SPAM account got flushed and because I had posted in the thread... my account got rolled up as well. Just a guess.

Pretty sure the lady mods appreciated the dick pics, so I'm sure it wasn't that. :rolleyes:

Fingers crossed, when I get my posts back, I think I'll ask.

I think "Banned SPAMer" or "Banned for SPAM" would be good.
If it's allowed under the forum software (there may be a word restriction).

Sure beats the hell out of "GoatFucker".
