Been mulling this over....

Been doing a lot of reading, here and on the ELR forum. Researching the question of using saline in mixes, or DI H2O. A lot of people were mentioning "dry" mixes,, or more accurately how to get a "wet" vape. Some have said that FA flavors tend to be dryer than others. Being a little concerned about diacetyl I've been buying a lot of FA flavors, more than half my stash is FA. And most of my recent mixes are all FA.

My question is,, has anyone noticed severe dryness with juices that are all FA? I think vaping in general always causes some dryness, especially for a heavy vaper ( like me!) But it's the coughing that's bothering me. Since I've started using more FA than anything else I'm coughing,, a really dry cough. It's hard to explain but it seems to get me not in the throat but from deep down.

I had some juice I made a few weeks ago that was mostly TPA so I've been using that today and no coughing. Just changed my tank to a fruity FA blend and yeah, the cough is back.

Am I nuts?? Or is this stuff really "dry" enough to cause coughing??

I have noticed this as well with mixes that are mainly FA flavors. A friend who I also gave a mainly FA mix commented on this too, he said it was good but he needed a water bottle close as it really dries out his throat. I wish I remembered which mix it was so I can list the FA flavors in there.

Thanks guys,,,, I'm NOT crazy!. Little disappointed though, I like their flavors. Will have to use them in mixes with other stuff. Or I wonder if adding the DI H2O would help? Worth a shot I guess.

I am wondering after pondering this if this is somehow related to the PH level of a juice that gives the impression of "Wet" or "Dry" hmmm now how to test this.. I myself have to have what one considers a "Wet" vape I cannot stand any eliquid that gives the slightest impression of "Dry" today I made some eliquid and only changed one flavor from a FW to a TPA and it is very dry.. Just some thoughts I think this was brought up long ago but should be revisited .. PH hmm

Hmmm ... I dunno ... PH test kit, maybe? They're readily available. :)

We're all nuts here! :)

Seriously, I'm experimenting with saline (which hydrates). Hopefully, I'll have the base done this weekend. Ol'DocPorter says nonsense (in the nicest possible manner). We2rcool swears by it. I'll post my subjective impression when I have one.

I think you need an expert opinion. @HeadInClouds, please?

Thank you kindly! I'll be looking forward to hearing your observations!! One question,,, I make a 240ml bottle of my 50/50 nic base and use that when I have time to sit and do some mixing, would I add the DI H2O to that? Or to each individual bottle?? I think each bottle, some may need more than others? If, indeed, any of them would even benefit from it. I guess I'd hate to ruin a whole 240ml of base (ok now I'm rambling!)

I'm no expert on that. I save the saline to hydrate my contacts ;)
Science would indicate it leaves salt behind as the liquid it's in is vaporized, just like boiling a pot of salted water.

I agree. I'd be more apt to use H2O.

I sometimes use FA fruits and CAP/TFA Creams/Vanillas, etc.
Or use the TFA/CAP fruits with FA Creams/Vanillas.
Helps with the dryness some by not using 100% FA IMO.

This is what Ol'DocPorter was concerned about. I've got all the stuff so I'm gonna go for it. 'Could use a little more time fore experimentation though.

This is exactly what I should probably do. Thank you!
