Welcome to VU! Lots of folks here to help you on your new hobby!

First things first is do some research. Read, read, and read some more. Check out the DIY Tips and Tricks forum and the DIY Tutorial forum.

When you feel you're ready then it's time to order stuff. Some folks like kits others don't. Personally, I'm from the build your own camp, but do what you are most comfortable with. You will need nicotine base, I recommend starting out with PG based nic as it is easier to work with. I only use 100 mg/ml as it make my mixing easier, I wouldn't go lower than 48 mg/ml because it will use up you nic base quickly. There are lots of good vendors out there, you can get a feel for them reading here in the forum.

Then you need PG and VG. These can be bought in lots of places, Essential Depot has a good deal where you can get a gallon of each for $40 with free shipping. Syringes or a scale for measuring and bottles for your finished masterpieces are also needed. Then you need flavors. Go looking through the recipe forum and choose a few that sound good to you and just buy the flavors to make those recipes. That way you know something that can be made with those flavors and you won't need to start a thread with what can I make with these. Start off with the 10 ml bottles of flavoring, don't go right to the 30 ml or higher to start.

Shake everything before you add it! The nic will separate in the base causing hot spots where you will be getting higher nic than you were wanting in your mix. Also shake your flavors as they can separate as well.

You also need to get a calculator. There are lots of free ones on the web for Windows and Android, I'm not positive about MacOS or iOS as I'm not into the Apple world. The calculator will tell you how much of everything you need to mix after you put in your recipe.

http://www.ecigexpress.com/ has flavors, nic, PG, and VG. Discount code Underground10 gets 10% off your order.
http://www.bullcityvapor.com/ has flavors, PG, and VG. North Carolina has some nasty nicotine laws so they stopped selling nic. Discount code VU6 gets 6% off your order.

Above all have fun, and enjoy. After your initial supplies you will find you are making a 30 ml of eliquid for less than $1!

I fully agree! In regard to kits, I do recall some folks posting that they liked theirs. On the other hand, I also don't seem to recall these same folks liking their kits so much that they posted they bought them a second time to make more juice.
:anyone:
Perhaps that's something to ponder?

I'm a newbie to this forum as well and in the same situation you are. I want to make my own "stuff".

I did buy a kit and actually got it today. It has a few options to choose from and some here may or may not recommend it but hey, I already have it.

Here is the link.

Then I also purchase (from other places) the PG and VG and Nic even though the kit listed above already had some that came with it.

From one newbie to another, Hello and keep us posted on how things turn out. I will be following this thread myself to learn and create some great juice.

My personal opion is that a kit is ok if you don't want to do the research. But you find limitations right away. Asking questions like "how do I make my strawberry better"

We all then ask. What strawberry your using? You reply the strawberry from the kit. We the recomendation 12 strawberrys. None of which are in your kit. Which is ok. But then you find out to make amazing recpies and mixes based on others recpies you don't have any of the flavors.

Which all just reiterates all the good posts. Pick recipies. Read read read before you buy. Your starting off in the right place here. The Vu community is always here to help. Welcome to the family.

Very easy to end up buying & trying 10 different Strawberry flavors till you find the one, or 2, you like best.
You may save some time and money by looking around here to see which brands/flavors are the most commonly used/liked.
Then make a list of flavors you wanna get to begin with.
Just the nature of the beast with DIY, as we all have somewhat different tastes.
