<3 all these MTL suggestions. I don't build, by choice with a wide variety of reasons that no one is going to change my mind on. So that means buying coils. Here's my list so far,

Nautilus, mini or full size still reigns supreme. No leaks. I think it's about the only vape hardware I've every seen last for as long as it has. Kidney puncher has a modified base for it. Anyone know of other modifications?

A lot of people like Ceravape made by Anyvape as an alternate to protanks. Ceravape takes either the Kanger or Aspire coils. I've also had good luck with Aerotanks with AFC base. The Mega's have been fiddly for me.

Eleaf GS Air series. Those are an upgrade in flavor to Nautilus IMO. They come with 1.5 ohm coils only. No 22mm size which is what I'm usually looking for. With box mods that's not that important anymore.

Subtank offers a wide variety of coils that are in the MTL range. Reviews are everywhere. Leaking seems to be common and that's a deal breaker IMO. Has RBA option.

Atlantis V2 has an almost universal fitting 1 ohm coil. Will fit Melo, IJust2, Herakles and a few other tanks. Sweet Vapes has a compatability list on their website. Other coils do not always fit in the Atlantis V2 so it's one way only. I don't have all those tanks to check out the quality of vape on. I'm more interested in 1.3 ohm and up to work on my old provari that I refuse to give up. Atlantis V2 coils also fit Atlantis V1. Someone makes a RBA for Atlantis too.

Triton has a 1.8 coil which some have reviewed here. I've heard mixed results, no personal experience. I've heard it does better with high VG liquids and I do vape max VG. I haven't heard the coil being compatable with any other brand.

Isub, Isub G, Apex which is top fill has a 2 ohm coil. For some reason a lot of stores aren't stocking the 2 ohm coil. I found it at Vapor Beast and Sweet Vapes lists it but it's out of stock as I'm writing. Great reviews on the Apex with 2 ohm coil. That's going to be my next buy. Since I carry everything in my purse all day, leaking is a deal breaker. Innokin has stated Apex will have a RBA option soon. I like having that to be FDA proof.

Top of the line is Kabuki from ihybrid using Atlantis V2 coils. These get high marks from everyone and at $89 they should. I have seen them on ebay for less. I wish Atlantis had a 1.5 ohm coil and I'd be more tempted as I imagine this is a fad proof, forever tank. I'm watching it closely. At least it's assurance that MTL vapers are not dinosaurs living in the past, but a valid vaping preference.

Have I missed any MTL tanks?
Uwell crown has a 1.2ohm coil. You can MTL it quite easily. It's my daily driver with max VG @ 28ish watts

Thx. I just read that. I looked at Crown's but I guess the place I looked at didn't stock the 1.2 coils. I know the Crown is rated tops for flavor.

Are you using the prebuilt coils or the RBA deck? I just finished putting in a 0.5ohm Clapton coil this afternoon, and I'm really digging it so far. Plenty of vapor and flavor at ~28 watts.

Kabuki uses nautilus coils --- expensive, but very nice vape. Since I broke down and got one, I've used little else.

Thx for that update. I've only heard wonderful things about them. It probably doesn't hurt I'm a fan of Zen's designs too. That makes the price seem much more reasonable compared to alternatives such as the Russian or authentic Kayfun's. It might be time for well made gear.

Got it dialed up to 40w now on the D2 with hefty 2 second hits...holy crap! Great clouds and flavor with Muffin Man. Chain vaped 2 tanks tonight without an even remotely dry hit. 3 days on the same wick now and it's still going strong. I'll probably re-wick tomorrow just because it's cheap and easy. Loving this tank build even more now.

I loved the protanks for low wattage use, but once you go subohm, well, I've not gone back in 4 months. Tried, couldn't do it.

I vote either a Uwell Crown (vape at 30 to 100 watts, never dry or burnt, great flavor) for a tank, or a Billow V2 if you're ok with making/buying and wicking your own coils. (premade coils, even wick'd, are darn cheap, you do have to screw them in and direct the wick though!)

Both do great with some watts, and have great flavor.

Update. I fixed errors in my earlier list.

I tried sub ohm and instantly went back. lol. I hate big clouds. They gunk up windows, can't see while driving and set off my smoke alarms. They also attract too much attention. And last but not least, are juice hogs.

I'm half surprised someone hasn't connected an atty to a generator and piped vapor into a gas mask or motorcycle helmet by now. I say half surprised only because I have a hunch it may have been done only I haven't heard about it yet. Vape styles are subjective. All is good. ;)

I'm really enjoying sales on older vape gear that's for sure.

I've tried several, the ONLY one I can use MTL is my Kanger Nano, It is perfect with a 1.5 coil, Just got it today and have vaped it all day, usually I can tell in a few drags if it's going to be smooth enough MTL , This one is a winner for me.

I rarely "cloud" just take a light draw, hold it in. As you say, in the car, can't see, at home, makes room cloudy, and at work/office... can't be caught.

lol I'm sure someone out there has the vape equivalent of both a hookah and a 6' graphix bong, indeed.

Wow. That is nice looking. I think I like this black better than the regular with red buttons. I've been tempted by the pink and purple, and just saw a blue the other day. But now I'm leaning towards the black. I wish I could buy them all.

I think if there was a poll, most would say they were both, D2L and MTL. I think if the poll included vaper's that don't hang out in forums, it would be MTL basically because there's a learning curve to D2L. I think my frustration is that manufacturers haven't done much development in MTL hardware, attys, since the Nautilus and getting higher ohm coils to use what they have produced is more of an after thought. Outside of the subtank, most of the tanks were designed for sub ohm. For some of us, vapemail is part of what keeps us interested and vaping.

I started watching this interview with Zen and he talks about his reasoning behind the Kabuki, testing different coils for flavore and other stuff. I like Zen. Maybe I should mention that. lol. The Kabuki conversation starts about 46 mark.

That video can't be for real?

I've talked to several with Herakles but none using the 1 ohm Atlantis coil. I know some stores use them for testers so they are good and work well. But if you already have the UWell Crown, then from what I've heard, that's about it for flavor except the Kabuki. ;) I'm trying to be nice about telling you that you'll prob be disappointed.

I'd rather see what you think of the Apex since that's got a different build based on the marketing. I know the isub G has a near "cult like" following and it's been hard to get a comparison. Folks who like isub, tend to stay with isub. So who knows where it ranks in the real world flavor line up.

Interesting my first sub tank was the innokin isub, it was like $18 at my local vape stand here in long island. Anyways, i haven't used it much cause right after i got it, and i did enjoy it for a while, i then got the kanger sub, but yes i tend to MOSTLY use the crown. The kanger has good flavor. The only reason i was thinking of getting the HERK is so i can switch flavors and have different variety by switching tanks. Who knows i may get another crown, see where the wind (or vapor) takes me too.

2 years ago I was gripping about bottom filling tanks because I'd forget which one I was using and take the bottom off of a Nova tank, spilling elquid everywhere. And the Kangers didn't have removeable drip tips. My first ego kit had stupid plastic tanks that were pierced by the atomizer at the bottom. Cost was $79. I had looked at ecigs before and skipped it. I would've had to order from China, a single burgandy Ruyan for $129. It was beautiful with a gold dragon on it and about the size of a cigar. So the ego kit seemed great. I never liked the plastic ecig looking things. My ego kit died a month later and store wouldn't have anything to do with refund or return. Then I discovered the ecigs forums. Uh oh.

Kanger Mega tank is 22mm but it's been fiddly and leaks for me. It never looks full. Also takes BDC's, universal or sealed. Hypertank uses the same coils but holds 9ml and leaks just as bad.

Subtank, 19mm or 22mm, offers a wide variety of coils that are in the MTL range. Reviews are everywhere. Leaking seems to be a common complaint and that's a deal breaker IMO. Has RBA option.
I was headed for a Kanger Subtank Mini, but now you've got me second-guessing that decision. A leaking tank would be seriously annoying. For example: We have end-table furniture with a finish that if you just look at it wrong gets damaged. (Not my choice.) Can't imagine what juice would do to it after sitting on it for a few hours :(

ETA: Yikes! That was a close call. Did some searching over lunch. Lots of hits on Kanger tanks leaking. I think that, if I want to upgrade, I'm going to have to bite the bullet and spend a bit more. What a shame. Looked like such a nice kit, too.

UWell Crown has a 1.2 ohm coil. They are said to be tops for flavor, second only to Kabuki, below.
Looks great, but I fear that, coupled with a mod, would end up being significantly more expensive than the Subtank Mini. Plus: I plan to vape MTL, and, while all the product listings talk about a 1.2 ohm coil: Checking the first half-dozen that showed up in a search: None of them had them.

I know some won't agree, but my new IPV D2 with Crown Uwell tank is sweeeeeeeeeeeet!
Looks like a great mod, but what do I see, nearly first thing, when I click on "New Posts" this morning:
Any guesses at what went wrong with my ipv4? Does not promote confidence. But anybody can get it wrong. Perhaps the D2 is better-designed and built?

What do y'all think of a Joyetech eVic VTC Mini + UWell Crown w/1.2 ohm for a good, relatively affordable, MTL setup?

That's what I did. Wait for a good deal tho

Fastech just finished a sale on Crown tanks for $14. Hopefully they'll get more in stock!
lol I have what, 5 currently and ordered 2 more. Ya know, just in case a friend needs one?
I've been trying to move over a bit to the Billow, works great, no addiction to $4 coils.

...I thought they said authentic when I ordered a few days ago... I hope not a clone :/
lol then again I have plenty. so I hope it's a good clone for when I give them away :)

I DID order some of the non-oem coil heads to check them out, probably shouldn't have bothered but with fastech, i tend to order a bunch of different stuff knowing i'll be a while lol

Thats what I run ony with .5 coils. Works great but guzzles juice and drains the batt fast. Gotta get me some 1.2 coils. The subtank with 1.2 coils works good too

I have no problem with clones, so long as the real replacement coils fit.

I just got a Chinese knockoff 1:1 Subtank Mini v2 clone and I can say that I'm impressed. The coils it came with both work and are spot on for resistance, which is more than I can say for the Kanger coils, but they're horizontal OCC coils with a tighter draw (just like authentic Kanger horizontal OCCs) instead of the vertical OCC coils that come with the authentic v2. The RTA is the new style with side juice holes.

The best part about the clone is that the AFC ring turns SO much easier than the authentic. I can actually turn the ring without having to hang on to the tank.

I'd try a Crown clone as long as it didn't take forever to get it from China. Apparently they can't be bought directly from the US.... Unfortunately.

If somebody knows a source for a US seller Crown clone let me know.

I missed mentioning the Joyetech clearos. I've heard the CLR heads were good.

A number of the Chinese retailers hae US warehouses so you won't have the month long wait from FT, however their warrenty and return policies vary widely. With anything "styled" quality can also vary. Once in awhile there's an improvement in design but often it is just as they say, "styled" meaning it looks the same. There's some truth to the rumour that you get wat you pay for.

I hope the clones work for you. Maybe you'll let us know? 1.2 ohm is low for my vaping style.

IMO it's hard to beat the GS tank, which is 22mm and takes their Air coils. You can get tank and a pk of coils for under twenty $ at Rocky Mountain Vapors with their discount code. I think if you googled iSub G tanks those are also solid performers.

TBC, very informative, thank you. As of right now I bought another subtank, a protank 2 mini (was gonna get a normal protank 2 but sold out) plus i went ahead and got the aspire nautilus mini because its gotten great reviews. Picked up some 1.8 ohm BVCs for it.

The next tank Im getting is a kayfun though, and thank you for your recommendation -- i will get the one you mentioned. Do you know of a good site to get it from?
You might try the Kanger aero tank it is a step up from the pro tanks works better looks better stainless, plus uses the same coils. Actually my favorite of all the mouth to lung.

Anyone know much about the Cera Vape line of tanks? I've googled but I don't see much solid information on them including where to get replacement coils. I'm also confused which ones require ceramic wicks or use Kanger and Aspire coils. I've heard great things about flavor and they are definatley MTL tanks.
