Hi everyone, I'm looking to buy a friend a starter kit. He's a smoker but likes to vape on mine. Nothing to big, maybe 50w-75w, pass through preferred...if I gotta buy the mod and tank separately, it's no problem. Was wondering if there was anything good out there.
Thanks for any suggestions

I would check a couple online vendors and search "starter kits", like vapenw or 3fvape to get an idea of whats out there. Maybe go on youtube to watch some reviews of the kits that caught your interest. New ones keep popping up (even after 8/8, lol). I would suggest something with a built in battery so your friend wont have to deal with separate chargers and learning battery safety from the get go. Good luck, and welcome to VU.

What's your rig? As a beginning vaper he'll have no clue about anything. Personally, since I just got my father and son vaping, and your friend (assuming) is used to vapor production from your rig, get him a Kanger Subvod and a Kanger Subbox Nano. The SubVod is a VERY good stick system. I still have 3 of them that I use. And, I also purchased the Nano. Has a one 18650 battery and he can sub starting at .8 or .5 if he doesn't need to go higher.

Hope this helps.

Since your friend likes your rig, it would help to tell us about it. In addition, does he prefer mouth to lungs (MTL), or direct to lungs (DL) hits? As you know, there are so many options available. However, in order to give you proper advice, we need to know more details.

If he is quitting smoking, he will probably want Mouth to Lung, and an adjustable air flow so he can cut back on air so he has to "puff" harder to get that smoking feeling, at least for awhile until he is off the stinkies. This is really handy for ritual smoking.. like first thing in the morning, with your coffee, after meals, at break time at work, after work ... you know, when you light up whether you need a smoke or not.. Some people like that ritual, like standing outside the coffee shop gossiping and smoking, which will now be vaping.

I am new to vaping, but bought a Kangertech Subvod mega TC kit. I was a very heavy smoker and this kit worked great for My wife and I. Adjustable airflow, decent battery life and very good cloud production. In six weeks we have gone from 18mg. nicotine stepped down gradually (18, 12, 6 to now trying a 1.5mg. juice and Clapton coils. Neither of us has smoked any tobacco using this particular kit and I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to stop smoking.

I would recommend an all in one. There's a lot of them out there. The new egrip is also a good choice. Its square but very small and has the adapter if he wants to try other tanks/atties.

What is the budget, and if he likes your setup, and you are looking at 50-75w, is he ok with something other than mtl? Are external batteries and a charger ok? Remember he won't yet know about priming and breaking in coils, battery safety, vg/pg, nic levels, etc.

Istick Pico kit is a compact mod and the tank has gotten some good reviews. I have the Pico, but not the tank. Only issue I have is the mod will only accept 23mm or smaller tanks. Bought it planning on using my Crown 1 tanks, but the Crown 1 afc ring is 24mm and hits the battery cap. Ended up putting my Merlin tank on it.

Vaporesso Target Pro is a decent kit. The tank that comes with it is decent and has 4 coil choices. You can buy .2 NI coils, .5 SS coils, .6 SS coils or .9 Kanthal coils so you should be able to find a coil that works for your friend.

If you don't want to go external battery mods the Istick Power 80w has a 5000 mah internal battery. I have a friend at work that has this mod with a Crown 1 tank and he likes it.

For simplicity you could get a Tesla 3. It's a 150w mod with a 5000 mah battery. No modes or settings, just screw on your tank and go. The mod figures out what power to use based on the coil in your tank. It can also be used to charge other devices if needed. I was skeptical of the device since it didn't have a way to set watts, but when I tried it it seemed to regulate itself no matter what tank/coil combo I put on it.
