Boreas rta, is it a keeper?

Hey all. I was going through some stuff and came accross an rta unknown to me. I do not know where it came from. Presumably I aquired it in a trade with someone here. So I identified it as a Boreas v1. I did some Googling and stuff and read good things about this 6yo rta. I searched our threads and noticed @nadalama had one and seemed to enjoy it. So what do you know? It is an oldie but looks new. No box or extras. Should I vape it? Should I pif it? Is it worth anything to say a collector or someone? Let me know your thoughts. Thank you.

I love the way it vapes when I get it right, but I rarely get it right. Kinda been a thorn in my side with great reward for a long time. Haven't given up, so I guess that says a lot.
@shawn.hoefer knows them as well as anybody I would say, and I bet would be interested in it.......

If someone really had to have it I would give it to them. However I would set it it up and vape it for a minute. But should I keep it and vape it? Is it one of the great ones?

It vapes good and is worth a try, imho. Just can be a pain, also imho.

I had a love hate relationship with my V1 Boreas.

Great vape, but it leaked, and was finicky to wick correctly.

I don’t do finicky, not that I can’t, just don’t have time for bullshit nor the patience.

It was designed by an old member here.

I have around 300 atomizers... most of them sit on the shelf gathering dust. The Boreas is no longer in steady rotation, but it still get used (i like top air and mesh a little more these days).

On the other hand, my Stepdot has access to all of my gear, and chooses the Boreas over and over... in fact, she has, I think, six of them. Her daily carry includes 2 Wismec Reuleaux RX200S and 2 Boreas. Oh, sometimes she'll get daring, and carry a different mod... a Tempest, maybe, but it's always a Boreas on top.

So, yeah, I'm my book, it's one of the greats.

I typically build a set of fused claptons... 26x2/36 either in Ni80 or SS316L. My coils are 3mm 6 wrap, but those can be rough to fit... for your first build, try 24 AWG round wire, 2.5mm ID 6 wrap. I almost never used contact coils... always spaced.

When wicking, fill the deck, but don't pack it in there. Allow for space under the coil.

I have six of these stashed away.

The Boreas was an RTA that I used exclusively for almost 2 years.
I didn't put them up until the Aromamizer V2 came along.

They are really great.
The two decks are both so similar that I can not tell the difference.
I always pre built the 2nd one (wicked & coiled) and left it in the augvape baggy.
That way if the other deck needed a rewicking but I did have time I just popped the 2nd deck in and worried about the rewicking later.

Somebody will have to pry the Boreas V1 from my cold, dead fingers. Is that expressive enough? Lol

I bought one from@joeyboy and loved it so much I almost immediately went back and got a second one.

I have had NO finicky behavior from them. Wick them like I would an Aromamizer and they are good to go.

Having said that though, I have adopted the habit of always burping my tanks after I fill them.

I went all in with the Boreas.
There was a seller on eBay that had them for $21
I remember thinking I can get two of these or one aromamizer v2.
I kept going with these.

This is an excellent RTA to have after the FDA pulls their bullshit.
It's a pre 08/2016 RTA that performs nearly as well as some of the newest RTAs on the market.

If FDA truly clears everything pre 08/08/2016 the Boreas would be in the top 3 best "legal" RTAs on the market

I found that if I just skipped using the top fill, and filled it through the bottom like the original aromamizers, then I didn't have the deck flooding issue that I did have...using the top fill. And by doing that I would have one hell of a dense, moist and kick ass vape. Still got one around here somewhere.

Okay I have heard great things here and I am going to atleast try it. Now that I think I got it from zephyr in a drip tip trade. So I thoroughly cleaned it and replaced two grub screws. Now for wick and wire I used a couple of fused clapton of unknown origin. Wicked it with Japanese pads, horseshoe style with ends covering the holes. So far so goog. It reads .26 on my gen 3-300 and is not leaking. The vape so far is good. But my experience with it is limited. But yeah let's give it some break in time and see what's in the future for this rta.
Thanks and peace to all.
