Box Mod Battery

So I am fairly new to vaping and I have ordered a Kangertech Subox Mini for my first box mod I ordered a good set of 18650 rechargeable battery's but then battery's that people say it needs is flat top but mine have bumps they will ship in about two day I could probably get a refund but I don't feel like waiting another month so am I S.O.L or does anybody have any ideas on what I could do? I'm open to any suggestions.

Hi Zelos, and welcome to the Vaping Underground! Very happy to see you here!
First, lets make sure we understand what a flat top is, and what a nipple top is.
Here is a flat top next to a nipple top. Both are AW IMR.

There really is no reason that I can see why a nipple top wouldn't WORK, but the question is, you are putting it into a sub ohm device. Do you see the 20A written near the bottom of the battery? That is the continuous discharge rate, 20 amps. You want to be sure that your battery is rated for 20amps or more CDR, NOT BURST! Different numbers. Can you tell us the exact manufacturer and model? If they are safe with that mod, and they FIT, you should be able to use them. I see no reason why a nipple top shouldn't fit in the same space. Mine all do. :)

Yes, you should be able to fit Button Top batteries in the Subox Mini, although it may be a very tight fit, and over time may wear out the +/- contacts (Some cells have longer/taller buttons than others). It is highly recommended to get yourself some Flat Top batteries, just to be safe, and Flat Tops have a larger and better selection to choose from for our purposes, there's very few Button Tops that are safe to use at high Amps.

For the Subox Mini, your best battery choices are Samsung 25R/25R5 (2500mAh/20+A) or LG HG2 (3000mAh/20A)

+1, I love the LG HG2's. 3000mAh in ONE battery?! YES please!

Did you choose ICR protected batteries, or did the vape shop supply those? ICR protected batteries are NOT recommended for vaping! Please make sure that the batteries you choose, are either made with IMR or at least INR materials, and are UNprotected.

If those were sold to you by the vape shop, you really need to find another vape shop! So many have no CLUE what they are really doing, and are only looking to maximize profit.

No they are Unprotected and I ordered them online the only problem I had is the bump top
Got it. Hopefully you will get your flat top batteries quickly! Did the nipple top batteries not fit into the mod easily? If not,I wouldn't try to FORCE them too much. You could compress the contacts which would make the flat top too "sloppy" to work.

Actually my vape and batteries are shipping in and will be here in a week so right now time is going in slow mo
