Braided 24g Kanthal?

So I've been wanting to try out a braided build, but all I have is 24g kanthal left at the moment. Has anyone ever tried it with 24g, and if so how did it work out for you? Figured I'd post here and ask because I didn't really find anything when I googled it and all the braided stuff I've seen is using like 28 gauge and higher.

Would think you would end up super low ohms. Plus smaller wire will give you many more crevices for juice.

Haven't tried it. But just my guess.

Agree with BK. Bigger diameter/less resistance. Analogy is water thru hose, bigger hose/easier flow of water.

Assuming you would do 3 single strands 24g you would be about 0.1ohm.

I think most braids use 3 doubled leads. So resistance would be like .05ohm. Plus ramp time would be ridiculous with all that metal.

Wire is cheap. Temco has free shipping. Get a spool of 28 or 32g. Should be like $10 shipped 100'.

Edit: resistance estimates are for 3mm 7 wrap dual coils.

Thanks for the replies guys .1 is fine but I don't think I want to go down to .05 lol that's a tad too low for my mod.. I took your advice and ordered some 30g kanthal earlier along with some .5 ribbon kanthal. I did build a dual coil setup earlier today but I don't know what you'd call it I know it has to have been done I jut can't find it looking it up either but it's twisted 24 and 26 gauge kanthal a1 wrapped in parallel with just a straight piece of the 24g kanthal.

I've only been building for about a month and a half so please just bare with me lol I have to figure most of this out myself I'm one of the only ones around my neck of the woods that even Vapes much less wraps their own coils haha

No problem.

Dare I ask what mod you are gonna fire a 0.1ohm build on? If you have the equipment to do it, go ahead. But i personally don't see any reason to go below .25 or so.

Good luck with your builds. Kinda addicting to get into it and find what works for you.

It's a dual parallel 18650 yep dark shadow box mod it's supposed to be able to handle down to .1 at least that's what the specs say. I don't usually go below .2 though I don't think I have so far actually not on my box anyways I was just saying I wouldn't be opposed to doing it since my mod is supposed to be capable of it.. I hope. Lol

Yeah wouldn't test the .1ohm claim. You would be pulling like 42A on full charged batteries.

What batteries are you rocking in that thing? .1 would pretty much not leave any headroom even with true 30A batteries.

I've got some Samsung 25r's that's all I run in the because it's the only matched set I have since all my other mods are just regular old mech tubes

Rule of thumb for parallel mods is 1.5 times the CDR of the battery. Your mod may be better, but why chance it. Sammy's are rated @ 20 amps so that would be 30 amps to be safe. A 0.10 build would be 42 amps. I would try to keep your build at 0.15 ohms which is 27 amps again to be safe. The 25R is a robust battery for it's rating, however it's always better to be safe than sorry.

Thanks for the tip gopher I'll definitely be sure to stay around .2 just to be safe. Oh and I asked earlier if anyone knew what kind of build I'm running right now I twisted some 24g and 26g kanthal then wrapped it like you would a parallel coil but with that twisted strand of 24/26 and a straight strand of 24g kanthal with 8 wraps total 4 of the twisted and 4 of the straight wire not counting my leads I'm sure this has been done but I couldn't find anything when I tried to look it up just looking for a name possibly haha it's putting in some major work and the flavor is awesome

I also don't know what the resistance is on it I'm running a dual setup of the build I described I know that's not a good idea to neglect that area I just don't have one at the moment I had a cheap one and it broke after 2 weeks so I'm gonna be without one for a week or so I've got one ordered already so I'm not trying to be ignorant just playing the hand I was dealt lol

Believe it is referred to as a "staged coil." Kinda a general term. Can be twisted and straight wire, fused clapton and clapton, so on and so forth.
