Braided vs larger gauge

I have been building my coils using twisted 30 gauge wire. The problem I have is that over time my wires separate and my coils go to junk. Can I get the same results from a larger gauge wire? If so what gauge should I be looking at?

Do you have a photo if the wire? If you're used to the twisted wire, you'll probably be disappointed in the flavor from a build of the same resistance using straight wire of any gauge. A photo of what you're wrapping would be helpful, i hate to assume what you may be able to do differently without seeing it

Aaahhhh hogwash.... You don't need fancy to get flavor. Put the clearomizer wire away and try a simple build with a proper piece of wire and see why 24g is the rda/tube mech standard.

I would post a pic but just used up the last of my wire. I had to hand twist some to redo my rda. I used to use straight wire and have done micros and normal coil builds but have found the twisted wire gives me the best performance. Have been seeing pics of some larger gauge wire and was wondering if they would give me the same performance.

Depends on what you mean by performance. When you twist wire (any wire) you're creating channels for the juice to creep into. That's what gives you better flavor than straight wire. If it's flavor you want then yeah twisted wire is generally better. If you are just looking for vapor production, thicker gauge straight kanthal may work better for you. Depending on what gauge exactly and which RDA you are using also plays an obvious factor. Thicker gauge straight wire may also provide a warmer vape. Like the comment above, most people just stick with simple 24g micro/macro coils and they're perfectly happy. I just didn't wanna settle for vapor OR flavor. Or just a little of both. I want lots of both....
Anyways, the answer to your first question, you're probably just not twisting the wire enough. A drill will always work best for that sorta thing

you want your twists super tight, this is the best photo i have handy. The bottom line in all of this is, once you find what you like, then do it. Personally for me, i could never go back to just straight wire all by itself-the flavor just isn't there for me. It may be there for you though haha, to each their own!

Usually I will twist a bunch of wire at one time but have forgotten my drill at work so have not been able to do it lately, but I usually twist till it wants to double back on itself. My trouble comes from locking it down on my posts. Sometimes I end up cutting one strand while tightening or both or it weakens there and breaks when I am re wicking.

I twist everything now, I can't go back. So far my favorite is a 22 and 26 twisted together run as a dual coil parallel build with 5 wraps

The ends of your post screws probably have sharp ridges on them. I use a nail file to smooth them out and wire cutting stops.

The hand twist is prob why it came undone. If you have a drill try twisting it that way

Ive started to abandon my quest for big clouds and have been getting some great flavor out of some twisted builds using ribbon wire as a 'highlight' or 'detail'. As someone mentioned above, the twisting and ribbon create pockets for the juice to hang out in goving more flavor and in some cases more vapor too.
Also, Ive started to experiment with single coil builds. It turns out some of my sloppiest looking coils make for the best flavor coils that I've made yet....

Been twisting coils for over a year, never had a coil separate.
You must be doing something wrong.

Oh and braided and twisted is not the same thing.
