Burnt taste with Wattage higher than 5.0?

I have an iStick 20W and an Kangertech EVDO glass tank. When I turn my wattage up higher than 5.0 W, 1.8ohms, and 3.0V I get a horrible burnt taste. The coil isn't bad cause I know the taste and the horrible burn that comes with a burnt coil. I can't figure it out. I have a Kangertech Aerotank 1 coming. Will this tank possibly be better?

Thank you!

The iStick does not regulate well below the batteries voltage, it's a known issue. Plus it tends to fire hot, meaning more watts/volts than is displayed. The Aero Tank might be better with lower ohm coils. The general consensus here on the forum is the best combination is an Aspire Nautilus/Mini Nautilus with 1.5 Ohm coils and the iStick 20 watt. I use one of the combo's myself and I can say that it works extremely well at 12 watts to 15 watts on the iStick. Let me know via PM if you need more information.

The coil may not be getting enough liquid to vaporize. If you a have another box of coils, try one. Could be a bad batch....

Awesome! Thank you! I don't have the money for the aspire yet. I will get one as soon as I can. I looked at coils for the aspire and I only saw 1.6ohm and 1.8 ohm.

Concur with Zamazam. Try the Nautilus Mini with the 1.6 coils and you will be in business. Wife took the aerotank for her Istick...

1.6 is fine.

Does the MELO work with the istick 20W? I have one, but I was told that it didn't work with my 20w because of sub ohm.

I've been using a Kanger Protank on my iStick 20. I can build 2 ways with success to avoid the burnt hits. If I'm using 32 ga kanthal, I have to build higher than 2.5 ohms. If I use 30 ga or lower (thicker wire), I can go 1.3 - to 1.6 ohms successfully.

I'm no Zam, not a pro, just like my Protank, is all :D

No sir. Istick20w will not fire a coil lower than 1.0ohm. The melo uses atlantis coils which are 0.5 ohm.

I you want to cheap it out you can always use the Aspire ET or ETS with the 1.6 BVC coils for non Nautilus Aspire tanks. The ET/S are quite cheap these days. If you want more air flow just drill the air holes in the base (with the coil removed) with a 1/16 bit (more than needed really but the smallest commonly available bit) to provide the coil with as much air as it can use.

I got my aspire nautilus in today. Checked everything filled it up with 4ml of juice. Put it on my desk, took a nap, woke up with juice everywhere. Including the inside of my istick LCD screen. I have no idea what happened. I have noticed that the battery contact at the bottom is just sticking out and I can push it back in with my finger.
