Fargo police checked local B&M's to ensure that electronic cigarettes weren't being used and E-Cig Empire got busted.

Now how are people suppose to try out devices and sample juice if they can't vape

What's Next, you can buy beer in a bar but you can't drink it there...

In my state of Pa. I can drink a beer in a bar because that bar bought what they call a liquor licence off the state.
http://pennsylvanialiquorlicense.com/typesoflicenses.asp
So these states passing these no indoor vaping laws are going to have to make something like this or I don't see how a vape shop could stay in business.
They could call it a IVL - Indoor Vaping Licence :p

Our state is next... They are having or had an invite only meeting to ban vaping where smoking isn't allowed

and yet people can smoke in cigar shops
Can they in Fargo? I looked it up and unless what I read is wrong smoking is banned in cigar shops as well.
Some states charge a member fee for access to a lounge area which gets rid of the "public accessible area" language included in anti smoking laws.
So until law is changed or shop owners build a separate lounge that is not owned by more than one person and finds a way to keep the "public" out (members fee) that shop is bringing this on themselves and is only fueling the flames of the anti vaping movement.

Actually I don't know.
I know people do it in Cigar shops in PA but that doesn't mean it's legal.

It is legal in Pa a state that has a very friendly attitude towards tobacco along with low taxes on it as well.
The real issue is the owners know it's against the law for them to do and they are doing it anyways. Which in turn makes the vaping community look bad. It's immature and won't change the law.

Pa. I believe it depends on the a percentage of food that you serve.
Not sure what percent it is but, Say if it's a restaurant that does 99% of their business is from selling food then you can't smoke.
But a bar that doesn't sale any food or the majority of their business is from the sale of alcohol then you can smoke.

This is just incredibly sad! I believe we as vapers have the task of being responsible. I don't think that since I don't "smoke" anymore that it give the the right to vape anywhere I want to. BUT, this particular situation is absolutely ridiculous. It sounds like vape shops in Fargo may cease to exist, which is very sad for Fargo smokers that might want to find a way to quit. It always make you think "big tobacco". Just SAD!!!!!!!

Not only is it idiocy at work, but it's yet another situation where the business owner has completely lost his/her rights. From reading the law, it bans smoking and vaping in enclosed public areas or workplaces and defines enclosed as being an area where 1/3 of the perimeter is contained by walls. So, even if you have an outdoor business that has 2 walls as windbreakers, you cant allow vaping. *shaking head*

Invalid point based on zero facts.
If the vaping community organized and raised awareness like the cigar community has (Look up CRA) then vaping might have gotten an exemption. Some cigar shops have been grandfathered in because of the community being organized and doing the right thing.
Again this shop is shooting themselves in the foot instead of taking action to stop from being looked upon in a bad light.

Yet all "studies" are inconclusive as to the safety of vaping, but conclusive enough to ban it. More like "Hold the phone till I can think of a way to get rich on this.....oh...okay....(CHA-CHING!!!).....Carry on...."
Greedy bastards.

Went to a cigar and pipe shop with a cigar lounge.
The motherfuckers that be kept turning the screws to them at 5 grand a pop to get permits to smoke a cigar in the shop. It killed their pipe side of the business, since pipe smokers could not try a blend before buying it at the now inflated cost.
Like imported cigs. same with the pipes FUCK off 25 feet outside the door.

Like smoking cigars indoors? Fuck off ONLY in the lounge with the shitty chairs not the comfy high backed bastards in the main shop.
It killed their business except the humidor side of things, and that is the ONLY thing keeping their business afloat.

The only workarounds I can think of, after looking at the law, are to either have a non-public section that is members only and has zero employees working, to make the vaping a part of a Native American religious ceremony, to have an outdoor area that is either 20' away from door or prove that vape won't go in the door and get exception to the 20' rule, or to make the shop into a domicile. Of course, ideally the dumb-ass law needs to be repealed or an exception given for bars, tobacco shops, and vape shops.

It's all about the tax money, at an average of $4.00/pack nationally. Twenty-five million smokers times four bucks a pack per day, ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS EVERY DAY in prepaid taxes. I can see why every government wants to stop smokers switching to vapers. With NO taxes [except sales taxes] state and local governments see this as theft of their money, and it must be stopped. This is why these stupid and punitive laws and regulations are on the books.

Drinking in public is against the bylaw where I'm from, Vaping in public is also not allowed. If people are allowed to drink in bars, does it make sense that people are not able to vape in vape lounges and vape shops?

As said, a bar has a liquor license to serve alcohol, but you can't stand in 7-11 and have a couple cold ones with a buddy while you chow down on some roller food. In Seattle vaping came under the same smoking bans in a hurry although I've never heard of anyone getting a ticket for doing either in banned area's.

here is something to think about

im in job corps and here vaping is only allowed at the smoke pits/shack/area and this came about back when little e cig pins starting coming out almost no smoker knew of them all they saw was a " cig cloud " so they thought if there doing it out here its ok so they light a smoke up

and to make it worse kids 17-20 would go get them vape in class to be a bad ass and now there baned to smoke pits and because it has nic its a Tabaco product even if you buy juice with 1000000% certainty it has no nic its still a Tabaco related item

I keep wondering when there's going to be a class action lawsuit against places that condemn vapers to the smoking area and thus exposure to known carcinogens.

North Dakota is all fucked up. My inlaws live there and we visit frequently. They were one of the very last states that allowed people to still smoke in bars. I think it was left up to each individual city though if they allowed smoking in bars or not. Fargo was a definite no, Jamestown you could smoke literally anywhere. But then all of a sudden they completely banned smoking and all vaping like BAM! This was not long before I quit, so maybe 2 years ago?

Its annoying but then again I don't really go to the bars when I'm there. We do the occasional blackjack grind at the bar which is about the only reason I like going to any of them. Worst case I just sneak into the men's room and take some vapes, chances are the workers wouldn't even give a shit if they caught me anyways so whatever.

@outwest you have made good point and made a evil monster out of me :) now just to wait for this JC center to use a fog machine and yell at then that they can not use that machine that it is Tabaco related :p its how they look at mods

I can't remember ever seeing a pack for $4 in Michigan unless it was discounted/outdated but that's besides the point lol sorry just had to throw that out there

That's something that's been done with alchohol as well. Charge a 1.00 membership fee for life, and issue a 1.00 off your first purchase coupon free with every membership. Membership grants access to a private members only area in which the juice bar is held. Problem solved. Sucks it comes to this, but problem solved.
