Buttery flavor

I posted this in the Ejuice/Flavor Discussion and it was suggested I ask here too. The upshot to this is I'll probably have to mix my own to get what I want, need to know how to avoid this problem.

Many juices I've tried have what I call a buttery after taste. Not horrible but annoying and sticks with me for a day or more. I do understand that the vilified diacetyl could be the culprit but thought juice makers were steering clear of it. I guess I've been wrong in thinking majority VG adds to that buttery flavor, no? Let me add that the alleged health questions with diacetyl are probably overblown IMO but if it's the sole source of the nasty buttery flavor, fuggedaboudit.

I'd call myself a paleo-vaper, ex-cig smoker more than happy with tobacco juices only. Any other juice has that buttery taste, so do most tobaccos but some very little. I also chase throat hits and prefer more PG than VG. Finding majority PG not that easy.

My favorite has been St.Louis local juice maker Maximum Vapors' "Humpty Dumpty" and "Red", head and shoulders better than anything else I've tried. Really nice and 60PG/40VG. Sad to say there's been turmoil there throughout the Summer and getting juice from them is sketchy at best. Even worse, I'm told they'll be going to 50PG/50VG, crap....

So I was happy to see Yaeliq offers many choices of tobacco flavors and PG/VG mixes at great prices. Let me go 70PG/30VG, oh boy!! My order came yesterday and yikes, buttery galore, unvapable. Double crap...

Can it simply be diacetyl causing this buttery taste, do VG/PG factor in, something else? Would Yaeliq be using diacetyl at this time? Help!!

I've found that most "so called" tobacco flavorings have nuts, caramel, vanilla, and whatever, mixed in.

Only ones I've really like were:
VZ Parliament or (ECX)FE Parler (I think they're the same)(only need to use 2-2.5%).
Then I add some Inawera (Wera Garden) Tobacco Absolute Virginia (2%), and Inawera (WG) DNB (1%).
These add some better dirty tobacco flavors.
They don't seem to have any "extra fluff", that I can tell anyway.

VG tends to be sweeter, and the sweet might translate into buttery, try plain PG/VG without any flavoring.
I think tobacco vapes like 70/30VG or 80/20VG taste better, to me anyway.

You might also consider trying some tobacco based "NET's".

Thanks, I have very little idea what you're talking about but that's why I'm here. What are NET's:confused:

I've skimmed through a couple threads here in DIY and clearly I'm nowhere near up to speed. But just as clearly, herein lies some answers. Maybe a good place to start would be to get some PG, VG and nic and whip up some unflavored mixes to see what differences I find. Like I said, I'm looking for throat hits so heavier PG should be where I start.

Then back here looking for recipes which should be all sorts of fun.:)

Thanks again!

NET=Naturally Extracted Tobacco, (I think).

Various methods involving soaking dried Tobacco Leaves in PG/VG/Alcohol.
The other/better ways done by the pros are way more complicated.
Some vendors sell pre-made nets that are quite good from what I've gathered.
Just for NETs or "Naturally Extracted Tobacco"

I think the unflavored could be a very simple way for you to test what you are getting that aftertaste from. Or at least confirm if it is of or vg. You can get a sample of 100mg nicotine from nude nicotine for just a couple bucks. that would mix down to 120mls of unflavored at 12.5mg strength. You could get everything for about $10 plus shipping. Worth a try. Most store juice is wretched to me now.

Mixing your own is a good way to go that way you can get what you want! It's way cheaper also, but please do lots of research, ask lots of questions also before you start. You can come up with some really satisfying juices. Use a mixing calculator to get your nic level where you want it when you first start, to keep it safe, always safety first! Good luck.:)
