Buying my first box mod

So, I'm ready to add a box mod t my collection. I've been using mech's for a couple of years now and vaping for around 5 yrs total. I'm looking for a good , solid box mod. Here's what I consider to be my priorities in order of importance:

  • Quality - Build quality, good value
  • Performance - Can deliver the power it states it can
  • Support .2 ohms minimum
  • 50 watt minimum but am considering at least 100 watts
  • Dual 18650's or Single/Dual 26650
  • Design - Comfortable to hold and a good menu system

Based on what is out there now for sale and the new mod's to be released shortly what do you think is the best overall box mod? Here's what I have my eye on right now:
  • IPV V3
  • IPV V2
  • Cloupor T8
  • Cloupor T6
  • Sigelei Raptor (100 watt box mod)
I'm willing to wait for a month or two if need be. Thanks for your input

Maybe waiting for reviews to come in is the way to go. Some of these are still unknown I guess. My buddy has a Cloupor T5 and I'm not super impressed with it. It's a nice quality piece but the battery life sucks, even though he won't admit it. And, having to remove 3 screws from the base to change batteries is not good, especially since you have to do it 3 times a day if you vape on it as an all day vape.

I have a Sigelei 50w, but am not throwing out the Cloupor Hana clone. From what I've read here and there, they've done away with screws and use magnets in the back covers of the T6 and T8 now (hope I got that info correct). Will definitely keep an eye on how the T6 turns out.

yep, you're right, they use magnets now. Actually, i was happy to see the new Raptor has both screws and magnets for the back cover.
I know, i know...what's the big deal about having screws for the battery cover. It's not a huge deal but it's nice to just be able to rip the cover off, insert batteries and go, right?
That Cloupor T8 looks like tittys....if I may use a word from my high school days. The Raptor scares me a bit though.

Moecat > how do you like your 50w Sigelei box? is it solid?

Ive been trying to decide which box to buy next as well. I've ruled out the cloupor's after the bad experience I had with the T5 and hearing the fiasco after the firmware upgrade. I THINK I've decided on the Sigelei 100w but the IPV3 keeps catching my eye. I just Sig more than P4Y.

My thoughts on the Sigelei ... http://vapingunderground.com/threads/sigelei-50w-box-mod-unboxing-thank-you-eric-origin-vape.15686/

Some people on reddit were saying their units died after firmware install and others saying something went funky with the voltage output, like it was putting out super high voltage when you first fire it and then leveling off to the wattage level.

I personally avoid cloupor products, ONLY because they have gotten into the game late and they need some more time to make better software. Sigelei has the most experience making mods etc out of the 3 of the companies. Also, I hate P4U and their shitty business practices.

Fucking over the customer is not a plus in my book. Price-fixing and warranty bait and switches come to mind. WHICH ARE BOTH ILLEGAL. Why hasn't anybody done something? I would have raised hell and if they pulled that shit on me.

Why the fuck did the IPV HAVE TO sell for 119(or w.e the price was)? Any normal customer is going to go around looking for the cheapest price. They basically screwed over anybody who bought from elev8 or people that bought it cheaper by denying them warranty.

/P4U hate rant

Not sure about the warranty thing but the price fixing thing you refer to isn't illegal at all. There are a LOT of companies that require their re sellers to sell their products at a "fixed" price and don't allow price cuts of any kind

Didnt samsung or lg get sued for price fixing their tvs around 10 years ago?

Not sure? I think it might depend on how the company(s) go about doing it. Hell, I'm no lawyer thank god. It does seem to me however that many companies require their products to be sold at the same price from all of their vendors.

Yeah, the Hexohm looks nice and reviews seem to be good on it. I'm not sure that I like the dial adjustment as much as other button styles. Also no screen.
I do like the magnetic door and the double 18650's. The price is a bit steep when comparing to other similar box mods but it is made in the USA which I like a lot.
Thanks Scuba-Matt

I'm pretty sure I'm buying the Sigelei 100w when I can find it in stock somewhere, no pre-orders for me though.

I had a chance to look at a friends Sigelei 50 W box mod today. I have to say that it was much nicer than I expected it to be. Good solid build, bright screen and performs very well. He also brought along his Cloupor T5 (not firmware upgraded) and we vaped the two side-by-side. We both agreed that the Sigelei outperformed the T5. It was almost like the T5 couldn't keep up. The Sig produced more plumage and taste than the T5.
After using them side-by-side today I am definitely leaning towards the Sig. And after seeing a couple of reviews for the 100 W box it's looking really good. I'm still considering the IPV3 but would love to get my hands on one before making a decision. Hopefully they have fixed the issues that the IPV2 had.

I think the 'price fixing' thing comes in when it eliminates competition; other business' from entering the market. It's not about consumer choice or protection.

Since you are ready, able and willing to wait, IMHO, I would suggest you do so.

Lots of really cool stuff arriving on the market with more to come.

Wait for the reviews to pile up and then make your decision to pull your credit card out.

Me has spoken..........

^ I tend to agree. The first thing on your list is build quality and good value. Most of the box mods available right now are fairly new and it can take 6 months for some of the bugs to become known / fixed. My personal pic would be the Siegeli just because they are a known mod manufacturer with a good solid reputation. That doesn't keep them from having a few "oops" once in awhile, but it's not often. I've heard grumbling about the others on your list. A lot of these are typical electronics; the longer you wait, the less problems there will be and a lower price too.

You'll know when something comes along just right because there won't be a choice or question about it. If I can't make up my mind, then the right one hasn't come along yet.

This is exactly what I'm doing.. too many possibilities with little to no knowledge on how the devices will stack up or last after a few months of use. Let all these high wattage boxes hit the scene, wait a month and then make the best determination..

If you are interested in a custom high wattage box I know a great one. It's from Delta H Vapes, the guy who make them from Austin tx. They have the okl-t20 chip 110w (I've pushed over 120w easily no prob) 20a box mod. Also the great thing about the okl is the battery life is better than the raptor. I get 3 full days of use with my dual sony vtc5. You can contact him thru facebook @ delta h vapes image.jpgimage.jpg
