Can nicotine 'go off/out of date?'

Hi people.

After realising I like nicotine, and that will be one of the first things to be regulated, I was thinking of stocking up on enough for a good few years ( I only need 0.3Ml per 10 mls to make 1MG, Cheyenne 0.9 for 3MG, using 36MG liquid, half that for 72MG) so was thinking of spending a fair bit of money, on a LOT of nicotine.

The thing is, can it go off/out of date?

What happens if it goes off? Does it lose its power or taste?

I am hoping it doesn't, and I could keep it in a dark, cool cupboard to have years and years worth, as you will only be able to buy 18MG maximum base. That is OK for me, but 36 or 72MG goes much, much further. I have made quite a few bottles already, and you can hardly tell it has been used.

So I was thinking of getting like 500MLS or a litre of 72MG before it gets regulated, to keep us going for about 10 years lol.

But, if it can go off I will just buy a couple of bottles of 72MG, couple of hundred mls to get a few years supply, so still can do it. Also the price of 18MG will be taxed so it will be silly expensive, so If I can get it now, it seems like a good idea to stock up.

Anyone who knows what happens to nicotine as it ages would be a big help.

Thank you, Conan.

Must be dozens of Threads here that can help you learn more about the preservation of Nic for long term storage, so I'll only touch the basics.
Get High mg stuff.... no need to waste time on lesser concentrates, you will use less and it will take up less space.
Split into smaller, user friendly glass bottles.....
If you think 30mls of nic will last you long enough.... thats all you need out of the freezer.
The idea here is to not expose your nic to Ultraviolet Light or Heat unnecessarily.
You are fighting Oxidization !

As far as how long it will "Stay Good"......
Well it dont just hit the wall.... one day its good, the next its not..... the nic level fades, and the throat hit gets stronger.
Using it exclusively you might not even realize the change happening !

At the right price........
I say Go Big, or Go Home !
You're gonna buy the stuff anyway, might as well buy in bulk and enjoy whatever discount you can get.
Whats the worst that could happen..... you end up with some nic thats not exactly "Premium" after 2 years ?
By then, whats left has paid for itself !
If the "Vape Apocalypse" happens, I'd rather have old, strong Nic..... than NO Nic !!!

And not all Nic is created equal....
Even from the same Company, it can sometimes change as they are fighting Oxidization Too !
Some prefer "Throat Hit", some do not.... do your research to discover what vendor sells what.
MFS sells liters pretty cheap, but as many would attest..... Strong throat hit most the time.
VT sells "Clean" nic, and "Throat Hit" nic...... But you will pay more for the "Clean".

Anyways........
:)

A good guess is about 5 years in a cold freezer.
I know 2 years is easily done. If there is a flavor change it's slow enough I'm not noticing. If there is a strength change I'm not noticing (and I need nicotine for health treatment so I would notice in ways other than feeling it).

Just from my own anecdotal evidence I can tell you that some of my nic, which is approaching almost 5 years of freezer storage, is practically identical to what it was when I froze it. The same color, smell, flavor and at the time that I tested it ( about 6 months ago ), it had no significant loss of potency either ( when accounting for error margin in the test itself ). I personally see no reason why it shouldn't be good for another 5 years if need be. :)

You can store your Nic in the freezer whether it's in PG or VG. PG and VG contract unlike water. Me personally, when I receive my Nic order (usually 500ml) I break it up into 60ml Amber Glass bottles. I leave one out and freeze the rest. I don't take it out and re-freeze it. I just leave my working bottle out and take a new one out when I finish it.

To be more precise, this is exactly how I store mine:

Empty (washed lol) Margarine Container

Eight 60ml (480ml total) Amber Glass Bottles

I do this because if the worst were to happen and for whatever reason I had one beak, it would be contained. I've never had a problem, but I'd rather be safe than sorry :)

Cheers,
Steve
