That's why you may as well quit whining and pay up. If you are not willing to actually do something about it and all you want to do is vent, your wasting your time.

No offense, but what you say is making horse hobbies expensive, is commodity prices. Government has no reigns on hay prices, it's driven by the market.
I know quite a bit about it, as I used to manage a feedyard.

The opportunity to have horses, race them, or whatever you like is still there. It just COSTS more than people want to spend. That's an income issue.
oh come on I grew up in horse country...and keeping a horse was a hobby even a lower middle class family could enjoy...now unless you have both parents working good jobs, keeping a horse is out of the question.

I disagree I think talking about this stuff people realize they aren't the only ones that feel this way and people find that across their so called political allegiance they have more in common than they thought they did....I think recently people on both the left and right are starting to see the goverment as the biggest threat to our peace and prosperity. and for the first time in my life I feel some on the left are starting to believe the federal goverment needs to be reduced and that people on the right are starting to realize defending coruupt corporations isn't the same as defending capitalisim.

No, you don't know what the fuck you are talking about. Hay prices skyrocketed as ranchers were run off range land, cows gotta eat, subsidies for ethanol have filled farm and ranch land with corn for fuel, not feed. Japan and China are importing hay for their own dairies rather than importing dairy products from the US just as they import steel and other resources to to take our manufactuering jobs.

For all your bluster, you don't know much. Government regulation, subsidies(corporate welfare) and "free trade" do have reigns on hay prices and every other commodity.

Before a problem can be solved, we have to identify the problem. So, while I feel ya on the general complaint of people taking advantage of the system, it's not the problem it's a symptom of the problem. I think you said you don't want to be political. But, politics is the problem. Policy is the problem. The system itself is the problem.

I would encourage people to take the time to learn what the problem is, rather than just vent about the people that take advantage of a system that was designed specifically for them to need and take advantage of.

I can not understand why people would choose to be on assistance that life sucks. My mother in the last few years of her life was on assistance and it was a nightmare.

I have to work with a lot of disadvantaged families from across the spectrum of poverty. Some of them are in that position through no fault of their own and others are living in a shit house of their own making. One thing that they all have in common is childern . As much as I don't like the welfare system, I could not for a second justify letting their children suffer because of the poor choices their parents or politicians made. I think our energy and ire should be focused on political and financial corruption; once thats figured out we can piss and moan about other things. Unitl then, its scapegoating.

Flame suit on.

Oh and @pulsevape for President 2016.

Especially this administration, whose #1 mandate is to get as many people as possible reliant on government pogroms. It's the Entitlement Monkey voter base and the bigger they can make it, the more elections the dems will win.

Everyone else is paying for his kids schooling. Unless he sends his to a private school.

Why should children be a tax deduction when they put a financial burden on our society?

i live in London Ont. i call it Scranton, Ont. this was a city that thrived on manufacturing of all sizes and all skill sets. the good middle class jobs started leaving with the NAFTA agreement and the bleeding hasn't stopped. if something new comes to town with 50 shit paying jobs, it's top of the fold news. on the bottom fold though, would be that we lost 75 good paying jobs.

and ya; we got our own welfare issues as well.
those that need it and those that abuse it.

Yeah we old farts just paid taxes for 50 years or so.
National defense? How much do we actually spend on our national defense? Trillions to defend other countries though.

If you can't pay the full cost of raising children then don't have them?
Just welfare on a different level from those who actually get something called welfare.

what have you done for me lately bitch either pick up a gun or out on the ice flow with you.....most people see the benifiet of having a population that is educated and so they want to give tax breaks to educate them...if you don't like it you can move to a community that shares your values.Public education was pushed because the bussiness class saw the advantage of having a semi educated pool of workers to draw from it proved to be an economic plus for the entire country.

Ahh you have no idea what I have given. And do not deserve to know either or deserve anything from me.
The ice flow will be coming soon enough for me...

People do like socialism as long as it is benefitting THEM.

Group health insurance thru an employer is a form of socialism.

do you often spend your time counting how many angels can dance on a head of a pin.and no group health insurance is not a form of socialisim.....nobody points a gun at your head if you don't comply.....using the strong arm of goverment violence is not what they do in group health insurance plans.

does each member pay according to their risk factors or is the risk lumped for the entire group?
A healthy 21 yr old pays the same as a diseased 60 yr old? The 21 yr old is subsidizing the elderly is poorer health.
That is socialism.

btw I do not believe in angels.
So why would I count mythological creatures?

no it isn't....it is a voluntary agreement you enter into.....nobody goes to jail if they don't want to be part of the agreement..

The mandatory part is not a part of socialism.

You are confusing socialistic governments with socialism.

LOL. Yeah, I'm sure clueless.

That's why hay prices are at their lowest they have been here, in the last 10 years. Guys can't even get enough out of it to recoup their expenses.

And we had a wet summer last year. More hay (alfalfa ) was wrapped high moisture then it has been in a VERY long time. So you'd think that would drive dry hay price up even more right? Well it isn't.

P.S. You can't get any crop insurance on hay here, and I don't think nationally, crop insurance is offered on it.
Also, the by products of ethanol (distillers grains) are FED to animals. The corn raised for it isn't wasted. So yes, ALL that ethanol corn IS feed.

Maybe it is you that needs to buy a clue.

Just because hay is high in your market, doesn't mean it is overall.
