Caravela with Doge v2 spits back like hell

I recently purchased a Caravela mod and a Doge v2, but I noticed it spits back A LOT. I can barely vape for 1 second before it hits my lips or inside of my mouth, and it burns like crazy.

I currently run a 22 gauge 6 wrap build, but I also tried with dual coils that were included. I have tried with and without wicks under the coil, and I have also tried with little, medium, and a lot of e-liquid.

I vape 100% VG at the moment.

Does anyone know what this could be? Thanks!

What is the resistance? If its super low then it will sometimes splatter you know if its a real hot build. Have you tried a different build? Are you using a chuff tip or a standard tip?

This, and you mention your wire gauge and wraps, but not resistance. If you don't have the means to check that, stop, and get an ohm reader, or, it's a bit more tricky, but a digital multimeter will serve that purpose, amongst other important things.

Now, the doge has an extra wide bore drip tip, correct? If so, especially a low build will probably do that. Assuming you have an ohm reader and or DMM, @eKo Vapors has it right... Try some new builds.

Proper wicking can eliminate a lot of spitting. If your wick is loose in coil, the juice can superheat and jet out (spit). If you are getting hot juice in your mouth on a 1 second toot, your wicking technique needs some work

I did not know that... I have a habit of over dripping, and I get spitting sometimes at first. Nothing major, and I like a hot vape.

Sounds like wicking along with the drip tip could be your problem.

Try making a dual vertical coil and have enough cotton through the coil to form a "mushroom" on the top, that setup usually stops all spitting since the cotton that is flared out on the top of the coil acts like a little wall that stops the juice from shooting up if it gets superheated.

Though this is directed at the OP, I'm guessing, I'm gonna have to try that. I have a mutation with hot legs in need of a rebuild, and I've never built a vertical coil. Is what you're suggesting making a fold in the wick and threading it through from the top, thus allowing for the "mushroom"? I'm always learning something here, I love it. I think I'm gonna do a dual vertical now.

Leave a bit of cotton at the top and flare it out on the top after you've juiced it.
