The X-Files may continue without Gillian Anderson, as series creator Chris Carter is considering a future for the series without the star who plays Dana Scully.
"I think that certainly The X-Files has more life in it, there are more stories to tell, with Gillian or without," Carter said in an interview with Digital Spy, noting he's "sorry to see her go" and "never actually considered doing this show without her."
As such, Carter said Anderson's departure will be "the end of something," and he's not sure "if it's the beginning of something new." In the event they do decide to continue the series, he said Scully would still be an important part of the show, even if the character doesn't physically appear in future seasons.
