I only have what experience has given me since I stopped smoking by vaping in 2012. My recommendations are based on low cost, reliability and good vaping experience. Some of these things have become more difficult to find, so perhaps someone with a more recent cig quit experience will stroll up and help.
As of now, these things can still be found online. I found all of these today between centralvapors.com and vaporauthority.com :
A pair of Ego-T or Ego-C Twist batteries to rotate, one on the charger, one in your mouth - 4.95 each on centralvapors
A pair of Aspire ET-S BVC glassomizers - 4.99 apiece on vaporauthority
A couple of 5 packs of Aspire BVC replacement coils at 1.6 ohms resistance, or 1.8 ohms in a pinch.
Small needle nose pliers with teeth

Recharger with wall wart. Most of the starter kits will come with a USB recharger, but the wall adapter will have to be bought separately unless you always want to be recharging off your computer.
The only thing I graduated to from there is what I still use, the eLeaf battery instead of the ego-T. It costs more, but has more charge life (greater mah). I have both the 40w and the 30w. Right now the 40w actually costs a little less than the 30. Still plentifully available in the online stores, but for that you also need an ego to 510 adapter. The kind with the flange is easiest to use. 2.39 on centralvapors
For eLiquid start with two or three 30 ml. bottles, so you can try flavors, but for a big purchase of liquid, my go-to is perfectvape.com where I buy 32 oz. of their house brand. There are many flavors in the drop menu, and you can choose your nic level and pg/vg ratio. They offer smaller squeeze bottles you can offload to, and you'll want a few 30 ml. bottles with needle tip caps for easy re-filling of your glassomizers.
I think that's everything. If you're about to jump off, and are still smoking, I wish you the best of luck. Sometimes you have to do both for a while, smoke and vape, before you feel ready to leave behind the cigarettes.
One more thing, you should familiarize yourself with ohms laws, to be safe using open systems:
