Yep, sorta afraid of that..more power has always produced a hotter vape for me.. A hot tank and a hot drip tip don't appeal to me either, especially chain vaping.. just sayin, lolMore surface area more vapor. You may need to crank them up, as martnargh says depending on how thick they are. More metal more power needed.
They like alot of power and lots of airflow. Your used to thinner coils so thinking of high wattage may make you cringe but thicker builds need that wattage just get get warm. The Clapton Outer Wrap wicks juice like the cotton so dryhits shouldnt be your concern when raising wattage either.
It all depends on your Core wire and outer wrap for how high the wattage will be needed. a 2 x 28g/40g may only need 50-60w in dual coil to be nice. A 2 x 22g/32g is going to need atleast 120w in dual coil just to get warm and 140w to be a great vape...
They should be good around 80w and I find them the best around 110w, but I like my vape hotter then most others. If your looking for most options then just what you see in the store send me a PM. I also make coils and sell them for people on the forum at a decent price, @CrazyChef is another builder who is a bit more professional and offers a great variety of coils and has a store setup, feel free to message him also if you want to try something different. I hope you enjoy the coils your ordering!Well after all the hype about how great Clapton coils are I ordered a box of .5 ohm pre wound claptons from MVB to check out in the Griffin..At only $7 I thought what the hell, I'll give it a shot...I think they're 24g wrapped with 28g or something like that...just got a tracking number but they probly won't be here till at least Monday....![]()

I'm on my Griffin right now, fused claptons 2X26gK/40gK at 100w, it's a warm(not hot) vape but no heat on the tank/tip. Pretty sure the warmth is simply a result of the denser vapor. I mean all vapor should be warm, otherwise it'd be liquid, right? Anyways the Griffin is quite a beast and I wouldn't worry about it overheating. At .5Ω you probably won't need that much wattage to get them heating up, but with 28g claptoning more than your standard .5Ω coils, that's a lot of metal acting as a heat sink for the 24g current carrying wire. My guess would be 70-80w should do nicely.Yep, sorta afraid of that..more power has always produced a hotter vape for me.. What exactly is a fused Clapton? How is it different from a regular Clapton coil?
