"Futuristic anime high school in space" is the kind of premise I can get excited about, but even a Martian setting wasn't enough to get me into Classroom Crisis. It has its moments, but it doesn't take full advantage of this incredibly cool sci-fi potential and fails to deliver the awe and intensity that you'd expect from a space show with "crisis" in the title.

For some reason, the "why we're in space" explanation happens at the end of Classroom Crisis' first episode. In an out-of-place montage backed by triumphant music, we learn that the solar system has been colonized by various Earth nations. The show itself takes place in a Japanese colony on Mars called Fourth Tokyo. The students at Fourth Tokyo's Kirishina Academy are also employees of the closely tied Kirishina Corporation, which finally brings us back to the beginning of the episode...
