Some people soak them in vodka but once a coil and the cotton is gunked up, it's done and ready for replacement.

I have successfully cleaned a Nautilus Mini coil that was not burned but if it is burned it is history.

I've used 190 proof grain alcohol before, and gotten them somewhat "clean", but something like a heavy tobacco or methol flavor will pretty much linger forever in the background regardless. As someone else stated also, there isn't any cure for burnt.

When I first got into vaping, as a means to quit smoking, I never imagined building my own coils, but now I really don't use anything that doesn't require building and wicking.

While building isn't for everybody, I will say that it can definitely be addicting once you start. I find it very therapeutic myself... not to mention a good bit cheaper than buying disposables.

They can be cleaned.... but they are after all a disposable item so there's a limit. The sooner you clean them the better. If you don't let me get too bad hot water. Maybe soak in dish soap and hot water you can get a few weeks. They get dirtier you can use alcohol to clean. Vodka works so does ISO .

I would advise against using dish soap on the coil. soap can leave residue... on the outside a damp clean cloth. anything inside I use a q tip and 190 proof. wire brush in some cases for Build your own coils wicking removed.

Dish soap is better at breaking up and disolved gunk than alcohol is.. at least for me. But yeah I also soak in alcohol to remove any soap residue. Soap makes juice taste bad.

Point is your only going to get a couple cleanings per head so the earlier you do it the longer the coil will last
