my coils are getting gunked up bad. Last about a week sometimes 3 days depending on the juice. I've been wetting a qtip and running it through there. Helps a little. I've tried soaking in water and vodka, doesn't do anything. Any other suggestions

How long do you except a stock head to last?

I've had mixed results cleaning premade coils using PGA (Everclear) I let hem soak overnight and then rinse in hot water. I leave them to dry for a day and then reuse. Most of the time they come out fine, just 5-6 funky tasting pulls, then tastes ok, but once in a while I'll get one that the funky taste will not go away, I just chunk them. YMMV

Maybe the vodkas not strong enough?

I was

under the impression, coils should last 2 weeks, no?
Never got 2 weeks out of any stock coil with owning so many tanks of the years. Have about 45 recent different tanks now, and been vaping since 2009. If a coil head lasts me a week I am lucky, but 3 to 5 days on average. That is why a lot of vapers use a RTA accessory for tanks if available for that one.

I've been thinking of going rda or Rta, but looks like a lot of tedious work and I have no idea which one to get there is an overwhelming amount out there

Building, installing and wicking coils is easy and takes less time than going to a store and buying coil heads and screwing around trying to clean and reuse something that's meant to be thrown away.

Exactly the reason I moved to RTA's.

Is there a particular unit to try and what would be a good ohm rating. I'm using .6 on a ipv d3 and vtc mini I like to use small setups

I have two VTC Mini's, and usually, have a Griffin RTA on both of them. I'm using SS316L coils 24GA at .24 ohms running around 40 watts on mine.

For direct lung vaping, I use rda's. Others will have to advise on tanks. Just know that rda's are usually easier to learn to build on. More build space and the wicking doesn't have to fight the vacuum of a tank so maybe consider a side airflow, velocity deck rda for your first rebuildable.
