Sitting here, thinking out loud again. I see a lot of requests for clones.. and would love to just jump on in and help out.. but most that ask, are either new to VU, or have very little participation here.. Maybe my coffee isn't strong enough this morning, either! but I am digressing.. that it sits with me 9 different ways till Saturday..so I decided to write a bit about it..
Being around forums, and other websites.. none of which I am as active as I am here, I see this trend over and over and over again. It's good to want to know how to recreate something.. but just know.. it will never ever be an exact. Sorry. It is what it is, an imitation, a replica.. of what you would love to believe, that by asking a simple help question, you too can have an exact copy and save tons and tons of money and even effort, than to try it yourself! What a concept. hmm.. don't think I am knocking.. I am not. Believe me when I say it, as even as experienced as I am, there are only a few juice makers out there that stump, yeps, even me. Not bragging, and can even say.. I don't vape a lot of juice others make.
I have a feeling this one will turn out a bit long, so bare with me and keep reading..
Grab a coffee too, while you are at this..
You dig around, find a vendor you like.. no matter price etc.. you finally land a juice worthy of your quest to clone it.. YAY!! then, because either you are new to mixing, or just getting into it, or what ever the reason, you just do what ever it takes, to find someone, more than willing to help in this task.. so the search starts.. you land on a site and post.. you might get a few responses and ideas.. some may be right, some so off the wall, hey wait.. why is that, when you know what you are tasting? ok let's stop right there for a sec.. just a sec! Let's go with a simple cherry and cream juice.
How do you know what you are tasting? that is a 50million $ question.
Yes, it might be a cherry swirly.. but... there is so much more to it that just that.. or is it?
Only the original creator can know what is in it, as that person did in fact create the juice.
All we can do is assume. but its it fun, and will save so much time and effort.. oh yes!
(mhmm make an ass out of us both!)
So.. since you are asking around from site to site and getting all your responses, and then going to the flavor companies and making purchases in what you "think" is in it.. and the wait begins.. You slowly start to receive all your purchases and it's on! So you think.
You bought a cherry, based on what others say it could be.. same with the cream.. You mix.. and then taste. Is that really what you think it will turn out to be, that store bought purchase? Chances are, not! so now what? Go back to the sites that offered help, when they saw your desperate pleas and ask again, that this isn't it, more help is needed? Or do you sit there silently fuming, or wondering and try to plot out the next.. Do you stay with this one juice, or move to the next one? hmm.. too many unknowns here, but lets say you are bound and determined this time, to produce this cherry cream..
You land on yet another site, and tell what you attempted to do, and even announced how frustrated you are and really need this recipe! Someone sees you are trying and helps again.. this time, telling you a few simple pointers.. like:
What do you taste, on the inhale, any throat hit (feeling in your mouth or throat) and how about that exhale?
It gives you a chance to see from another view point, even coming from yourself. You have a track now, because you know! this is a cherry swirly cream.. and you tell what it is you taste.. then the verdict.. go out and buy all cherries and creams from many vendors.. more money, more time to wait, time to mix and time for fuck ups or perfection.. and it begins again.. this time, you make something so gosh awful, you do not ever even want to think on it, much less admit.. its cough syrup in a batch of cream. no!!! Back to the start yet again..
Then cruising around, you learn on layering and tasting single flavors first.. aha! a step in the right direction! YES! so you start.. you learn on the cherry.. some are sweet, some are green (raw) some are like candy, and some are like eating a real cherry.. the cream is a bit more tricky.. but that is ok, you can always ask others to help out.. and then.. yes! then you go back, opps out of that vendor juice, need to anti up yet again.. and try to compare them both.. so you wait on your juice to come in.. or have to go get it from the b&m.. and try it again.. You sample it and you sample your cherries.. you try and match what you taste.. and think you have it.. YES.. then you work on the cream the same way.. and you think you might have that juice now.. You take it to friends and share your good juice you made.. but yet.. something is still missing.. Frustrating, I know, but at least you know some basic steps now in trying to figure it all out.. You think, even tho there are many ways to create a cherry cream vape..
Thing is.. even when cloning a juice.. if you try to, you might come up with something just as good.. or something even better.. but you won't know, until you try. You got this, and even if you don't.. keep trying.. from one mixer to the next.. Keep trying!
side note:
Most of the vendors out there, that make good juice.. love to hear how someone is hard at work trying to clone a juice they might have spent a year or so making. They might even laugh or say you are off the mark, never know.. I know i do, when i see someone trying to clone one of mine.
