Coilart reached out to me several weeks ago for the purposes of this writing. I received the bron, and at first was a tad confused. I don’t use pods very frequently but have, indeed, used a few. This is still a tad bit of a departure for me; so, I am approaching it from the perspective of a newer vapor, or recent smoker. This is available in 5 color options: red, orange, blue, black and silver.
The bron arrived in a rather utilitarian packaging, which was rather refreshing, as I started vaping back when most gear came wrapped in bubble wrap. This was certainly not bubbelwrap; but, still utilitarian. Keep in mind, that retail packaging could be different. The kit comes with: O.5 ohm coil pod Variable Wattage pod-950mah rechargeable battery. Airflow adjustable driptip Instruction manual Micro usb charge cord Size of device 62x36x13mm Capacity of coil 2ml
Its small, there is no way around saying that. Its small but effective. Along the outer side are the fire and adjustment button. The device has 3 power modes adjustable with one button.
Its pretty straight forward. The airflow adjusts at the driptip. From 0mm- 1.5mm x 5mm on either side.(so airily open all things considered. However: the lower bore of the drop tip is only 2.5mm and upper bore is 6.2mm. It is NOT a 10 driptip and I am unsure if it will fit the Orion tips. The mod is capable of using 0.5ohm or 1.0 ohm pods. Ive mostly been using the 0.5ohm as i preferred the performance of those. The coils sit directly beneath the driptip, which leads to some rather enjoyable flavor.
Down the side in between the fire and adjustment button is a row of led lights. The top 4 are for battery strength identification. Each light is 25% battery life; therefore, 1 light =25%, 2=50%, 3=75% and 4= full charge. The bottom light changes from red, blue and white indicating fire mode. The mod tops out at 25w. I was unable to verify which wattage the modes represent other than for it to say white=low, blue=medium and red = high.
Filling the pod To fill the pod, there is a tiny rubber stopper to pull revealing a fill port. Simply fill the pod with a needle tip bottle and close it up. The pod secures tightly into a pair of guides on the device. It fits securely and does not come off. To remove it, I’ve found pushing in at the driptip allows the side to pop up and then you can pull it off to refill.
Overall experience: Overall, I enjoyed this. The build quality is certainly nice with beveled edges leading to a comfortable fit in the hand. The buttons are placed allowing for either a trigger fire or thumb fire. This would certainly not replace any of my other gear; but, if I were still smoking and looking to quit, this would certainly have done a far better job as a cessation aid than the gear at the time. The flavor was fantastic, and vapor production was also much better than expected. I found myself cutting the airflow down about half way which helped tremendously to give me a nice mouth to lung experience. How was the battery life? Much better than I expected. I did not get an entire day on a charge. I did get better than 8 hours on a charge though; and, it does have pass through. Hence, you can vape while charging and sneak that puff in the office. The simplicity of using this device is probably my favorite part. I would have happily welcomed this when i was a new vapor just getting off cigarettes; because, there are so few options and such good flavor.
Pros: Build quality Flavor Battery life Adjustable wattage (3 choices) Aesthetics Ease of use and simplicity Cons: Juice capacity Only three power options Only 2 coil options
