In Irish folklore, the blackthorn tree is guarded by the spiky fairy-folk known as the Lunantisidhe, literally meaning moon fairy. They are not friendly towards humans on the best of days but should you try to cut wood from the blackthorn on the festivals of Samhain or Beltane they will surely curse you.

ASPEN TREE
It was believed to have the power to communicate with the next world. The Celts also believed that the wood from the tree would protect them from spiritual harm.

THE REED TREE
Very important in Celtic folklore. It is thought to be an introduction to the Ogham calendar and was used by Druid scholars for writing equipment.

I just saw a news report that a man was arrested in Australia for planning a terrorist act. He was planning on packing explosives in a kangaroo! That's just crazy!
