Cubis 1.5 Ohm Rebuilding

As the RBA kit is for sub ohm (too much air flow, since the air is not led to the bottom of the coil), I'm rebuilding the prebuilt coil for the 1.5 ohm Cubis, so called Clapton coil.

The coil is flooded, I think, and I get gurgling and the air flow gets more and more restricted, because the core is collapsing.

I'm using 28 gauge kanthal wire.

There's a limit to how big diameter of the helix I can use and still get enough cotton around it. The prebuilt coil seems to get more cotton, probably because it's done by a machine.

I think I understand how the coil works. It has 8 holes and it leads the juice from the bottom of the tank to the middle of the coil head. It also leads the air from the top chimney into the bottom of the coil head. Quite ingenious design.

Has anyone successfully rebuilt this?

Is there some special folding going on or whatnot? I've disassembled the prebuilt coil and I think I'm doing it right, but I don't get the same result as the prebuilt coil.

Anyone done this?
